nearly forgot - if anyone has any LC slowcooker recipes as well I will love you forever!!!!
I'm frightened of pressure cookers.
I use my slow cooker a lot, at least once, often twice a week.
I make stews & casseroles low carb by putting lots of chopped leek & celery in with the meat & then when it's cooked I take out the veg & whizz it & use it to thicken the gravy.
I use it to make soups too because you can make lots & freeze the excess. I make bolognese in it, cook gammon joints (lots of lovely stock for soup) sometimes I cook a whole chicken.
I don't tend to use recipes as such, I just chuck things in that I think taste nice together.0 -
I don't like pressure cookers either. Scary.
I'd like a round of applause please. After yoga today the chocolate pixie appeared and planted the idea in my head that just one G&B bar would be alright, after all I've lost a pound, I'm fine.... and I even set off towards the staff canteen thinking yeah, I can do it - I'll eat half now nad half tomorrow (right). And then I managed to talk myself out of it even though I was really hungry, and had some cauli ad blue cheese soup instead. That's a really big thing for me. It was remembering something I read on the IPD forum once that did it - 'if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got'.0 -
Gawd, now i finished ironing *rolls eyes*
I might just end up staying in bed all day tomorrow.
It's been so sunny all day, and now we're having fine snow flurries.
Had my soup and crispbreads, this time with brazil butter, bit bland compared to peanut butter but quite lc, expensive tho.
Will be having courgette bol for tea, really fancied it after reading on here earlier0 -

Yay. Well done!
I'm struggling to eat today, I just can't be[STRIKE] @rsed[/STRIKE] bothered. I'll need to have something but can't be faffed cooking. I want a housekeeper to come and mind me. :rotfl:
I've just spent the last hour looking at people's houses and all their lovely wall mounted tv's and bespoke AV gear. I'm already pulling off the plasterboard in the living room, in my head.I'm sooooo jealous.
Mmmmm....wonder if you burn any calories just thinking about things.
Oh well....onto the kitchen I suppose......Herman - MP for all!0 -

alias, probably too late with a 'flat bit of pork' recipe idea but ...
Put said bit of pork in frying pan with chopped leeks & mushrooms & seasoning, cover with water, bring to the boil & then simmer (with a lid on but slightly askew) for about an hour* until the meat is cooked (top up with boiling water if it looks like it's drying out during the cooking time) When it's cooked, you could use any remaining liquid to make a gravy.
I must admit I wouldn't do that for just one piece of meat though, only if I was doing it as a family meal as it takes a long time to cook for just one peep. Tastes nice though, a bit like roast pork even though it's not.
*Will double check the cooking time with my Sister as it's her 'recipe'.0 -
hi all,
is anyone watching nigel slaters simple suppers, just saw him do a chicken burger wrapped in lettuce rather than a bun. Only thing was it had breadcrumbs in, but you could just leave those out0 -
Linni, ribboned courgette is nice instead of pasta too, just use a potato peeler lengthways down the courgette.
Sounds a great idea, do you steam the courgettes?
Must confess that Bisto is the one thing that I haven't given up. Am really quite good with everything I eat although still probably eat too much but can't face roast beef or mince without gravy.0 -
*raises hand*
Me...me.. I got one...
Take slow cooker, wipe with damp cloth, dry, put away on high shelf in kitchen cupboard. Go buy a pressure cooker.
  put away my slowcooker  !!!! never!!!!!! it has dinner ready for me when I get in from work!!
was having a little looksie on tinterweb earlier for an alternative to mashed potato (which I also love!) and saw that pumpkin is a similar texture to potato and can also be roasted, baked etc - has anyone tried it??!! I know that cauli can used as a mash but sometimes its nice to have something different!!0 -

I have only used courgette in my lasagne (apart from sliced and fried in butter) but tried it with bol tonight and is so nice, so much lighter and less stodgy than pasta, i actually think i preffered it.
I not only ribboned but stacked said ribbons and sliced thinly lengthways, then just boiled for a coupla mins, looked lovely and tasted great.
Newcook, not tried pumpkin but imagine it would be like BNS and that is lush roasted.
Angie, a while back (months probably) i posted that i had wrapped tuna mayo in an iceberg lettuce leaf, that was very nice too, it does make a good wrap0
