PasturesNew wrote: »Well, the first thing that springs to my mind is: !!!!!! are legal services?
It's a bit broad.
Do you do divorces? Or wills? Or conveyancing? Or all of those? Or what?
Sorry for being vague.. I'm a solicitor, working solo. I've tried to narrow down what I do, so no conveyancing or divorces, but pretty much everything else. Specifically focussing on supporting small businesses, so contracts, employment mainly, also legal health checks to make sure business set up and operation are within the law:eek: Also wills and immigration.
Hope that's a bit clearer, all suggestions gratefully received.:jLost 38.5 lb with SW so far, 56LB to go!:A

Ho Hum, had a rough day today. Checked emails to discover that a job I went for has gone to someone else....went to tesco to drop off applicatio0n form which I downloaded off the net. Nasty woman in customer seriveces told me in no uncertain terms that the only jobs they have available are full time and that , anyway I have to fill in the "official" form which i collect from instore and only when they have a job i want to apply for. I asked if they can keep my application form on file for future positions and she looked at me like I was alooney and pointed at the vancancys board (for the thrid time) and said"that's all weve got!". So I had to take my application form away. So the only way to know about any jobs is to be lucky enough to be instore on the day they advertise them....I think they should be looking for decent customer service staff!
Articles are going ok. One of my clients is going to be away for the bext two weeks which means I can be a little slack if I like.
I also have tomorrow off work as my daughter has a speech therapy appointment. She has a little stutter and also was born with a cleft palate which affects her speech a little bit. Been waiting for this appt for months.
Horace your boyfriend sounds really supportive...not! Glad you have two on the go - one to pay and one to play:)0 -
nzmegs - like most of us, your crystal ball seems to have technical problems that it cannot let you see when tesco will be advertising vacancies. I would be tempted to email their recruitment section at head office.
H - I too like wine and unfortunately I drink it too often. I had bought the gin instead of wine as I don't like it as much and the tonic to go in it is cheaper so in theory i wouldn't drink it as much. Hmmm.
I have done no work today, well very little so will be a little busy bee tomorrow as I ain't going to start now when its nearly quitting time!0 -
megs - if I were you I'd write to Tesco to complain, if you cannot use a downloadable application why do they have them?
I have just come off the phone with a place over in Leamington Spa, I need to look them up on the internet because I am not sure if they are an hotel?? The upshot is, I have a meeting with them on Tuesday afternoon as they are starting to do weddings and have asked me what I do so I shall be looking at it as a venue and also maybe become their planner:j0 -
Has anyone else noticed that since the little piggies are having the flu there has been very little talk of recession?
My takings have been good since the piggies took flu, maybe its co-incidence or too much of Sammy's wine.

Ps - bit of a quieter day today though! Must be the weather!
Yes, it's great isn't it? Anything to stop them going on about the recession :rotfl:.0 -
Hi everyone,
it's a good thing we can just talk about debt problems and share ideas.
I am self-employed, deep in debt and at the moment I am just researching the get-out-of-debt methods and techniques. I do beleive I can manage this on my own and avoid bankruptcy...0 -
hi everyone
Can anyone help me with ideas for how to promote a legal services business?
I don't have any contacts as such, starting from scratch. Just launched a website, no takers from there yet. Toying with joining a networking group, quite expensive though-or maybe that's because I don't have any money:eek:
Going to put an add in the local village broadsheet, at least someone will know I'm here! But of course that also means that I'll have to pay someone to tidy the front garden as I work from home...
It just seems to be one thing after another.
Local ad is a good idea. You could get some cheap flyers printed and distribute them to local businesses.
I would join the local networking group too. My OH goes to as many networking groups as possible and picks up quite a bit of business that way. People always prefer to use someone they know in my experience.0 -

Me and wine just don't really go together and its a while since I had a glass and I think it went to my head.
Tonight is a women in business thing and there will be lots of small business there so I am hoping to just go and see whats around my area. I am taking my boss with me - she is the pushy one....(nicely though and she knows what she is talking about....)Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Well done on spotting the spammer Sammy
I have just had a call from some wedding directory - the guy who runs it is seriously peeing me off, he is so pushy and I have told him to go away and rethink his prices for a quarter page ad - he can give me a discount to bring the price down to 229 plus VAT so I told him that I paid £95 plus VAT and I am not planning on advertising in his directory. For something that has been going for 20 years - his circulation figures arent that good at 10,000 per annum and its given away free to brides. He keeps banging on about the wedding fair that I went to at the Fownes Hotel in September - so I went to a wedding fair so what I go to lots of them. He can whine and wheedle all he likes because he will push me too far and be told to do one:rotfl: He even had the nerve to ask me if I had just woken up as I sounded breathless - I had been for a brisk walk to the postbox, I was being chatted up and I have hayfever..what a bloomin' cheek:mad:
I have looked up Woodland Grange too and it is a rather smart conference establihment in 16 acres of lovely grounds..there is an opportunity there and I can smell it:D
Sammy let me know how the Women in Business thing goes as I have been thinking about them for a while:D
Anyway, its lovely out there and I have been chatted up on the doorstep by one of the new tenants:cool:0
