Star I would leave the cheque till 22nd incase there are no funds in their account till that date. If it bounces you will be charged and your client will be charged. I have a customer who would give me post dated cheques for that reason. She knows she gets paid every 2 weeks on a Wednesday and will give me a cheque dated accordingly.
Hope that helps

I was just about to answer to your question star just TCM beat me to it lol. It'll be datemarked for a reason so i'd leave it til closer to the time else it may cause problems.
Had a busy morning and after blue talked about hula hoops I went to the shop and bought some.
Right, back I go.0 -
I'll join you all - even though this is a long, long, thread that I've not read at all
Hell, 40 pages already - it'd be a full-time job just getting up to date!
I work from home and have done for a couple of years. I have some websites that make me money .... and more that don't. Not every one is supposed to, some are just experiments in ideas and methodologies.
I also do freelance work. In fact I am here typing right now because I am putting off starting a job I have to complete which is well paid but quite nasty - and I have about 40 hours of it to do by next week ... I'll start it tomorrow.0 -
I know what you guys mean about the post dated cheque, maybe im just being cynical and thnking that they are are translation agency, they must have the money. I shall keep it safe for 2 weeks and then cash it. But until then I will look at it occassionally, and hug myself as its a physical representation of me being worth something and people paying me for things I can do sitting at home in my pjs0

Blue Monkey - I have had a quick shufty through your website and have discovered that you are selling things alot cheaper than I can buy them in stores here, even with p&p and I'm wondering why you haven't taken up permenant residence in your local post office with the amount of parcels you should be sending!
Is there such a thing as being able to put one thing or a matching set on ebay as an individual to see what sort of response you get? Online selling only is limiting your market (says she who pontificates about setting up a web site and hasn't yet done it) and i think at the price of your goods and the quality for the price, people need to sit up and take notice! Is there anyway you can get out and about say car boot sales (know that is not the market you are maybe aiming for) or sales?
I have told so many people about your site today as we have an out of town discount underwear shop that your prices can well beat! I spent £40 on a bra and knickers a while back and that was reduced!0 -

I've always thought there was 2 spaces after a full stop so that is why I have done them this way - even here.0 -

I have just received a cheque in the post from a client ... my first cheque in the post - how exciting. However my invoice isnt due to be paid til about the 24th May and the cheque they have sent me is dated the 22nd May. Most cashiers wouldnt even notice this.. but should I cash it or not?
What do you think?
Can i be honest and say I wouldn't. It is actually technically illegal to write a post dated cheque and if you went to a bank to pay it in they would probably just pay it in. However, you don't really want to naff your client off do you. They are maybe being super organised and ensuring that you get your money when you should do.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

I learnt to put two spaces in after the full stop too. Anything goes these days I think ugh! A young administrator told me that they don't even promote the use of paragraphs anymore...:eek:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

TCM - great minds think alike - that's what I was thinking too. He needs to demonstrate to me that he is worthy and it will be good research for me too:D
I have spent the morning on the phone to the jobcentre - I was horrified to see £70.50 sitting in my account and they said oh thats your money for the week:eek: I have had to jiggle my accounts around so I have taken £1000 from my e-saver and put it in my current account.
I need to get hold of Sammy too as this housing benefit form is driving me nuts asking me for accounts and business spends (I don't understand their jargon:rolleyes:). I am also wondering how long it takes the HMRC to process applications for WTC?I sent the form off last week and I want to know...god, I am so impatient:rolleyes:
Today, is a plodding day...and I feel like a tired old sock:eek: 3 jaffa cakes haven't helped either:rolleyes:
Been out with a client today and have had a large glass of wine so no sense out of me today!!!!! Housing benefit forms are a nightmare but give me a call tomorrow and I will go through it with you. I am doing another one for another client so I can do two at once... WTC can take about 3 weeks but you will probably get some money into the bank before they actually send you any paperwork so keep checking your bank...:DQuality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford
