    Morning All!

Horace - if himself arrives this weekend, go with him and stay in a posh hotel, have a bit of pampering at HIS expense and suss out the place for weddings as well - call it research!

Blue Monkey - I really like your website and I can see where you are coming from with ebay - its hard to compete against that market place.

Star - you need one of those "time standing still" gadgets that the bird in Harry Potter had!

TCM - great minds think alike - that's what I was thinking too. He needs to demonstrate to me that he is worthy and it will be good research for me too:D

I have spent the morning on the phone to the jobcentre - I was horrified to see £70.50 sitting in my account and they said oh thats your money for the week:eek: I have had to jiggle my accounts around so I have taken £1000 from my e-saver and put it in my current account.

I need to get hold of Sammy too as this housing benefit form is driving me nuts asking me for accounts and business spends (I don't understand their jargon:rolleyes:). I am also wondering how long it takes the HMRC to process applications for WTC? I sent the form off last week and I want to know...god, I am so impatient:rolleyes:

    Today, is a plodding day...and I feel like a tired old sock:eek: 3 jaffa cakes haven't helped either:rolleyes:

Oh goodness I've just accepted another (a lot smaller) job to be done over the weekend and the agency that was sending me files almost daily for 3 weeks but I havent had anything from them in nearly 2 weeks just sent me two files. And they dont even ask if I can do them, they just send them to me! And they want them back today, Ive told them that theres no way I can do so, but I can do them 2moro if they want (im going to be dead come sat..) And for once its the right way round, giving the client who's paying more priority :)

I really hope I havent bitten off more than I can chew...

LOL, must be the weather. I've just had lunch of a sandwich and 2 packs of hula hoops. LOL!!

Horace, why are you still with your bf? Have you been with him long?

Halfway through the paperwork. Sales Invoices all done, now got to make a start on 3 months of bank statements. Urgh. Have lost the receipt for the first entry which is very annoying and I've looked everywhere and it is not here, hope it's not an omen.

I am VAT registered Horace, sometimes it might be worth you doing, plus it makes you look more professional.

    Hi all
Haven't done much posting - or indeed much work - as away for the BH weekend which was great but tiring. Then yesterday we had yet another meltdown crisis from DD18 who I think is panicking due to imminent A levels on the horizon, uni in Sept. She doesn't ask for help, is horrible to both of us & then goes into panic mode, of course we can help but are not psychic:mad:

Anyhow less of that, she has gone to college for an hour or two now so we have a breather. When you work at home you are always there to spend hours talking through these things at the expense of your own work:eek:

Good news is that even neglecting the website looks like I have sold a doll for £1100 which is great news; plus another who had one on layaway for ever has just said she will start paying it off starting next month - hurrah! I do have a problem though that I don't really know how to deal with....quite a few of my customers are collectors based in the US. I normally only sell my own stock; but have had a couple of expensive dolls to sell for other folks. Because they ARE expensive, people have taken a long while to pay for them, plus they also often use Paypal which of course takes a cut of the money. Now, since the credit crunch the value of the £ against the dollar is way down & if they have taken a long time to pay then I have got a lot less then I would have done IYSWIM. Normally that would not bother me so much but when I have to pay someone else it is a nightmare & I don't quite know how to deal with it. I charge 10% for selling them on my site, but I'm not sure that will cover the shortfall. I know I have to take the hit this time & pay the consignor (?) their money but any ideas for the future? Perhaps I will have to stick to my own stock:rotfl:

Another little bit of good news is that I have paid off the 2 smallest credit cards with the massive % rates & now will start on the biggies. Plus the rental property money came in without the monthly chase-up call - well at least on one property it did, not sure of the other yet.

Plus at the weekend I will be going to collect my ex-battery chooks so later on will be shed-clearing to make somewhere for them to live (DH has actually offered to help:eek::eek::eek:) which probably means a LOT of swearing & questions as to what all the cr**p that we are moving actually IS (good question). Sorry for the long post, see you are all hard at it though & it does motivate me:rotfl:

    Well done Sashanut!

Have just had 2 packets of pickled onion monster munch & a customer has brought me in a home made rhubarb tart. She must think I need feeding or something!

Am panicing today as I have just realised the rent is due to come out on Tuesday and I need to have a good Thursday, Fri, Sat and Monday to cover it as I stupidly paid suppliers off in full this week with it having been busy.

To cash or not to cash?

I have just received a cheque in the post from a client ... my first cheque in the post - how exciting. However my invoice isnt due to be paid til about the 24th May and the cheque they have sent me is dated the 22nd May. Most cashiers wouldnt even notice this.. but should I cash it or not?

    What do you think?

    Well done Sashanut.

Blue Monkey, I ask that question about my bf a thousand times, I have been with him since 2003 (truth be known I have two chaps:eek:;).

I have just had my electricity bill and they want to put up my DD to £53 a month so I rang them explained that I cannot see the numbers on the meter and have asked that they send someone to read it rather than sending me estimated readings, a note is being put on file and someone is coming out on Thursday. I also took the opportunity to complain about 4 salespeople who came round selling on behalf of Scottish Power yesterday, they weren't professional and were extremely pushy and ran around the block making lots of noise:mad: - blimey I sound like a grumpy old woman:eek: Scottish Power are looking into this complaint too as well as sorting out my bills:j I currently pay £26 a month and the most increase I would accept is up to £30 - £53 is taking the tiddle.

Had a chat with my landlord too as I received his contract and he put the date down as from 5 June but my current lease runs out on 5 August, he has just rung me back to tell me to change it and that he was sorry because he had been rushing about and had to scribble it himself so immediately I said that he needed a PA and that I would work for him, to which he said we would have a chat then I said that my rates can be cheap to which he said we will definitely have a chat then:j See I am not backwards in coming forwards:rotfl: There might be a job in it for me - well I have to turn my hand to anything if I want some money:rotfl:

I am so sharp anyone would think that I had been born in a knife box:rotfl:
