Hi all
Meeting with accountant did not happen she had put it in the diary for tomorrow but we are going to meet on 18 March instead (she would have come round tomorrow but her daughter has chickenpox and I dare not risk passing that to Dad).
Just had a minor panic as I went to get some cash from the bank and discovered that I was £569 overdrawn:eek: my limit is £500 so I have had to do some moneyshifting..I cannot believe that I was so stupid to go overdrawn:mad: - it must be the first time in 2 years that I have gone over my overdraft limit:mad:
JP good luck with your fayre. I cannot wait for my break, I have packed a book to read and I shall make sure that I do some travelling about as well - have camera will travel.
Have spent the last two days ringing the optical dispensary at the eye hospital to see if my glasses are ready but I am not getting any reply which means that the chap must be off sick so I shall be bumbling around on my break like a blind old bat:mad: Fingers crossed I get a call tomorrow otherwise it will be too late.
Will be around tomorrow and may poke my nose in here at the weekend if I have time - if not then have a fab time this week.0 -
TCM ... So very sorry about the OH... thinking of you and sending lots of :heartsmil your way. Hope he recovers soon.
JP - Good luck with the Fayre

Just popped in to say have a great break Horace!!:hello: Have wasted time trawling the high street this week for a particular thing so I can fulfill an order... took up far too much of TWO days - but it is for a fab client ... but does make me more determined to take my site in hand and cull the awkward lines and get some retail only products in there. And what a week for spending, birthday presents galore for starters and the kids are growing out of everything at the mo... new wellies here, new joggers and sweat tops there... so thankful for the values ranges in the supermarkets... they grow so quickly (still, I thought they would slow down after toddlerdom, how wrong was I?!) and put their knees through things so frequently!!! The latest thing is new school shoes... and he has such wide feet that they will be EXPENSIVE!! And tonight I finally booked the piano tuner... 60 quid!!!! ouch but then listening to it played out of tune is more painful!!
:D Glad that I didn't get suckered into spending a tenner on Vistaprint business cards that I didn't need - the free cards ad at the end of the amazon checkout was SSSOOO tempting... but then you want your own logo and then there is the postage and suddenly it is going to cost nearly a tenner for 250 cards that are not really how you want them anyway... not the cheap interim that I thought!! Lesson learnt!!:o (Twenty minutes of my life wasted but a tenner saved!)
Now a question for all you fab people... are you happy to use a site that only has a paypal checkout option?? I really can't afford to do the full merchant checkout option yet, what do you think... some sites offer googlecheckout and paypal and you can just use your card through paypal without creating a paypal account... I am happy using these options but am I alone? I would really appreciate your opinions!:D
Anyway better go and chase the kids towards bed, friday night or no... it is getting late and I would like a bit of peace before I fall asleep on the sofa!!
Bye for now... Paintsplattered:hello:0 -
Paint - printing.com have an offer on this month on business cards - buy one get one free, the last time I did it I ended up with 500 cards free. Vistaprint have a horrid habit of signing you up to a vip club which they then charge you £9.95 a month for:mad:
Sorry I havent been around much today - I was over on the 4N forum learning some lessons. This crazy woman posted and was quite rude and insulting yet wanted us to fork out £50 for some book she had produced - of course, no-one bought into it because the approach was all wrong and so it went on - it was like an episode of dragon's den (in fact someone posted a vid from dragon's den) where all dragons are out. The woman couldnt take criticism and saw everything as a personal slur on her and then had the nerve to say we had ruined her reputation so I am afraid that I had to say that she was doing a good job of that all by herself:rotfl: I am not normally so catty but there was no way I was going to put up with a marketing bod telling me and other small businesses like me are a pile of !!!!!! There is no way on this earth that I will use her marketing company because she has made herself out to be an incompetent buffoon.
Went to the bank and the shops (Aldi) walked home, pottered about, am at hairdressers tomorrow and will get the bus to parents and again on Sunday. No sign of my specs so I am guessing that the optician is off sick.
Have fun folks - I will think of you all when I am away.0 -
{Mudbath sneaks back in}
Where does time go? It's ages since I've been on here but wanted to pop in and see how you're all doing.
I had a slow January because of the snow but things picked up a bit in February. I've just had a weekend away with an old university friend and she's also self employed so we bounced lots of ideas around. She's talked me into starting twitter and I've already had one person buy a voucher after finding me on there so that's productive. I'm also going to start using my business facebook page again. It's all free apart from time so I'm going to try and utilise it more.
Hope you all busy / moving is going well / enjoying holidays (delete as appropriate!) and welcome to all the new people on this thread!

Hi all
Had a great break..spent Monday afternoon in bed..nearly all day Tuesday too..went out in the morning had an afternoon siesta. Generally didnt do much at all, went out on Wednesday night again on Saturday and on Sunday. The wedding was fab although there were things that I would have done differently like not spreading rose petals on the red carpet in a brisk wind or putting the orders of service on the chairs so that they blew into the pool. Met some great people including a fab drag artiste called Kitty:eek: Friday I went on a boat trip to spot dolphins - saw plenty but got burnt to a crisp in the process and then went spending in Mogan market - got some african sand pictures, a croaking frog, a huge lace tablecloth, a bamboo handbag that can fold flat and two amethyst necklaces. Hotel was ok a bit to germanic and they were very strict - you couldnt take anything out of the restaurant.
I even networked that the wedding and exchanged business cards with a lady that prints banners and t-shirts on GC. Not much business done to be truthful - through lack of time. I ended up on Saturday night wearing one of the grooms' wedding jackets because I was so cold.
No need to change the clocks either and the temperature during the day averaged 25 degrees and at night around 15 degrees.
Just catching up with everything and received a mark for an assignment that I sent off before I went away and got an A:D Best crack on I suppose as I have a lot to do today.0 -
Welcome back Horace!
Have got broadband back in the shop now so am up and runnning again!
thanks for all the best wishes for the OH. I am beating my head off a brick wall where he is conerned at the min. He was discharged from hospital with no after care, no follow up, no counselling, nothing. So muggins is left to pick up the pieces as if he never did it. I have tried to distance myself from his parents too - i have seen a different side to them - i know the mother is over protective but at the same time her son has been very ill and needs help and she needs to see that. I am not prepared to take on the responsibility for him as i have enough on my plate. JP, I can sympathise with you even more now, with the hassle you've had with the inlaws.
The shop is picking up thankfully again. Being shrewd with ordering though.
Hope to get back to posting a bit more regularly now!0 -
Thanks for the welcome TCM - step away from the screen though as I have cabin fever:eek: caught at the airport..started with sore claggy throat and has turned into sore claggy throat with bad cough and the trotskis thrown in for good measure:mad:
Well done on business picking up too. I may have some commission coming my way although maybe not..I managed to get preferential rates on a carpark for 2 days for someone that I know who won't be staying in the apartments just using the parking space as he can't get his landrover in anywhere else. So I don't think that I will get commission for £10 parking for 2 days..tut.
It is bad that OH has been discharged without help and one hopes that his mother will take on some of the responsibility for him and gets him the help that he needs - you can't be expected to do it all.
I was due to go to a networking event tonight - a free one but I had to ring the casino to say that I wouldnt be going because I feel so rough..the thought of even walking to the bus stop is making me feel ill..so I am missing out on vintage style shoes, posh hats and cupcakes:mad: I think I might have to resort to shopping at the supermarket online - something that I have never done before but I have no food in as I cleared out my fridge before I went away - I have a lump of cheese, some now dry bread, crisps and milk and the means to make a coffee. I hate being ill:mad: Anyway less of me whinging.0 -
TCM - glad business is picking up and I hope OH is improving. Bit of a nightmare for you at the moment. Hugs to you!
Horace - hope you're feeling better soon - it's horrid feeling ill when you just want to get up and going / networking.
This week has been slow for me. I really need to get up off my backside and start marketing my business a bit more. I have all my regulars but I need to get some new clients. Made a tiny start and spent £1.60 of my marketing budget (what budget??!) on putting an advertisment up in a local shop. Baby steps!
Have a lovely weekend xx0
