morning all, hope everyones having a good day.
I'm waiting for john to come home then i can try and work my magic on him to convince him to let me buy a chocolate fountain. I've been looking at one with a good stand and hopefully i can ssave and get one then rent that out with the business as well, or convince him to do it for himself as he keeps saying hed like a little business of his own, i think that could work round his job and if hes away i could do it to, although ill probably run it anyway. So fingers crossed i can get him to say yes (once i give him the look he wont refuse) but already been asked how i expect to run that from cyprus, i think i could rent out to works dos and stuff, but wont have the equiptment for a while as i need to save for the holiday first.
otherwise its another day of sorting junk and getting things listed on ebay and amazon, free listing day today so john will be busy tonight.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Things have been a bit quiet here - the chatlines haven't been too busy so not happy with earnings! I've now set up a couple of websites (one psychic/tarot, the other a bit more, erm, niche), which hopefully will eventually bring in a decent income. Nothing happening on the proofreading front either, so I'm going to get in touch with some publishers to enquire if they're looking for a freelancer.
The downside of being self-employed eh -you never know what'll be coming in ...0 -
JP - I would avoid chocolate fountains like the plague, unhygienic things.
Well done on setting up your websites Amber.
Did go out yesterday and got run over by a motorised scooter - they should be banned or at least the riders should take a test before they're allowed out onto the pavement:mad: Am covered in bruises. Picked up my tickets and got my euros in the travel agent. Paid a cheque into the bank, went to a real cheapo card shop (being a snob I wouldnt normally have ventured in there but I didnt want to be mooching about in the freezing cold), I spent the grand total of £1 and got a tasteful condolence card (cost 50p) and 2 sheets of wrapping paper (covered in cupcakes - I shall use it as wedding paper) - the wrapping paper was marked at £1 per sheet but I got them for 25p each:cool:
Went to business bank today and put some money in to give my account a boost, nipped to stationers and corner shop. Friend is supposed to be coming round tomorrow with my earrings - I will believe it when I see it because it has snowed since yesterday, if she has any brains she will bring them round because she should realise by now that it doesnt pay to get on the wrong side of me:mad: As the snooty mare has made a comment about my flat (she came round after I had been ill and I hadnt done any housework), I am going to be working in the living room tomorrow and will have papers spread all over the floor:rotfl:
Received an email from the event organisers summit - who were advertising their event as being free...free my @rse, its going to cost £4500 plus VAT to attend:eek: - uhm, I think I will give it a miss.
See y'all tomorrow.0 -
I feel like having a little rant - just rang my supplier about the goods ordered at the Spring Fair and they have told me that they were signed for by my neighbour on Monday, she hasnt bothered letting me know (no card left for me by the courier co) and although I can hear her tv blaring out cannot get her to answer her door:mad:
On a good note, my earrings have been returned.:j0 -
afternoon all, we are having a semi quiet day, would be very quiet but fr the kids screaming. John is well untrully running f with my next venture wich is fun and trying to work out how im going to get my holiday spends together thanks to the stupid RAF again.
Glad you got your earings back horace did you tell her were to go afterwards? Hope you manage to get your other stuff now.
Hope everyone else is having a good day.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Managed to collect a ginormous box from my neighbour - so big I nearly fell in it:eek: I have 2 wedding post boxes, 3 sample packs of favour boxes, various sample packs of tuille, pack of white tuille, 2kg chocolate dragees, sample pack of paper roses, sample pack of glittery fabric roses, 3 rolls of ribbon (1 white, 1 ivory and 1 pale lilac), bag of discs, a crystal garland..waiting for silk bouquets and favour maker machine. Rang a friend and she is going to sort out her spare favour maker machine and various bits for making favours and is going to let me have them - she has refused payment for them:D I didnt tell my friend where to go - she flopped on the sofa and wittered on about the school reunion that I didnt go to which was about 3 years ago..gawd why on earth would I want to go to one of those..I hated the place. Anyway, I won't be contacting her and I am very good at avoiding people.
JP - can you sell anything to raise funds for your hol? Are you going with the choc fountain idea? The RAF will pay eventually.0 -
Glad you got everything sorted horace. and hopefully it wont be long till your selling hundreds of favours.
Ive got sme stuff listed on ebay, some stuff on a facebook page and some carboots planned, all stuff that has to go anyway because of the move and then with some proper budgeting the spending money should be sorted, at a push we can take less than wanted because we are half board but i think we shuld be able to sort everything just me panicking again, also got a tennant moving into our house soon so hopefully will have some rent from there.
We decided to go with the chocolate fountain business as its really big business at the moment, its going to cost alot for the machines and lightbox so wont be for a while yet though. I know it isnt everyones cup of tea but i like the idea, its easy to fit round our lives as well. I think we could make it work even if we got our stuff in cyprus as we could sell fruit kababs and also target the brides getting married out there, maybe even market as an alternative to cake out there. The rental potential is huge on them so would be smething we can do while getting the tiaras and balloons established. just to do the saving nowback to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
JP I used to work as a demonstrator for a chocolate fountain company. Used to take them to weddings, assemble them, set the choc going, set out all the fruit etc and show ppl how to use it (and basically stop ppl from breaking it, as huge, full size ones cost about 3 grand.)
If you want anymore info let me know

They have always made me feel a little queasy - I keep thinking of dust landing in it:eek: Mind you I am not keen on the smell of melted choc as it gives me migraine. Saw another idea today - champagne fountains.
My stuff is sorted out into a smaller box but I need to dispose of the huge box and get rid of the shredded paper and the polystyrene bobbles. Rang up Lakeland yesterday and ordered some stuff - some for the house and some bits for the business. I ordered 2 x 3-tier mobile trollies with huge plastic drawers to put stuff in, one I shall use for brochures etc and the other I shall use just for the favours.
Won't be around much tomorrow am off to the eye hospital and have to be there at 9.15:eek: (means I have to leave at 7.45am at the latest) to go and have an eye test.
Spent today wrestling with my pacmate padlock - I cannot remember the combination:mad:, then I tried my Antler one for my Antler vanity case but couldnt get that set up properly:mad:, same for the M&S one:mad: so I have found my pacsafe (I am taking it with me anyway) and shall use the padlock from that for my suitcase as it does up with a key:D
Have been rummaging around for a large toilet bag and then remembered the huge roll up one that I was given as a freebie that has been hung on the back of the bathroom door for the past 18 months:eek::D I am trying to get myself organised and am already fretting about getting to the airport (I wont use the train because I am by myself and will never be able to negotiate the stairs the station with my suitcase), I might get a cab there the night before at around 11pm and sleep there - check in opens at 5.15, flight leaves at 9.150 -
thanks starx, im sure ill be asking for lots of advice son, like you say they are just so expensive we have to save for ne first, did see a good business for sale on ebay wich had 2 fountains and 2 champagne fountains for about £3000 just culd afford it just yet, the plan is to move then buy the bits either through my crash money or just saving. Im looking forward to it though even johns excited and keeps claiming it as his.
Hope everything ges well tomorrow horace, how long is it untill your holiday now?back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0
