Hi. Has anyone had any experience of inventing something. I've had this idea for a few weeks now - its just a different sort of bookshelf which would save space. I was thinking how I could save space in my own house and in the middle of the night 'invented' this idea. I emailed a company which makes prototypes who want more information but I can't give it to them as I'm not a very good artist and would need to show them a drawing. I'm probably one of thousands with a good idea but you never know. Can anyone suggest what the next step would be please.
Managed to get my credit card down to £600 and made £60 on ebay.0 -
Not sure about prototypes Catbells - have never invented anything in my life.
JP - the trip to the hospital cost me £78 which is the cost of a new lens to go into an old frame (I say old frame, it was bought new in January last year and was replaced 6 months later by a new pair), shh don't tell anyone I lied this morning and said that I was going away for a month and needed the glasses by Friday 5 March:eek: Went to the big Boots in town and bought a few bits and then went to Primark and bought some bikinis (got 1 bikini, 1 pair of swimming pants, 2 sets of bikinis - these were buy 2 for £5), then I ventured into Selfridges and bought wrapping paper, a guineapig card for a friend, and I spent my 20% money off voucher in Fenn Wright & Manson, oh and I had lunch out too. Its not long till I go - I fly out on 8 March at 9.15am and return on 15 March at 14.45 (flight gets back at 19.25).
Best catch up with my emails and sort out my work phone switching from PAYG to pay monthly (that way I can take it abroad without a problem).0 -
Hi again... Well done Horace on finally getting your earrings back!!! I had a nutter school friend who took the p*ss and I put up with it for ages before I saw the light!!:A I am trying to motivate myself into getting some painting done... but it is so cold still, have resorted to working at the kitchen table... and we are catching up with friends at the weekend so I am the client for some of the work and I am STILL struggling!! Biggest nightmare this week though (last week was a vomiting bug:() is that one car failed its MOT yesterday:mad: so I am carless until OH fixes the problem and the re-test is done... so DD won't be going to swimming... no public transport and I ain't paying a taxi fare there and back for a half hour lesson... she's not going to be happy! On the upside I got a lovely delivery this morning, with some lovely new things to paint... but that means I am expanding the range again and I don't think it is a good idea... I think I am going to have to do some analysis and axe some old lines that are not selling now... but I must prioritise... I am so bad at doing the things I like first (and new things) and putting off the big mundane stuff... esp the housework...
that reminds me... must get on!! And I don't have any knowledge of inventions either except be careful no one nicks your idea!:shhh:

Hi all
Yesterday I had a really strange day - you could say that it was rather spooky:eek: At the end of the breakfast meeting yesterday (we raised £610 for a charity) I was thinking about someone who had donated a load of Thomas the Tank Engine stuff and was talking to someone about her (in a nice way) and then she called me, late yesterday afternoon I get a call from someone whom I had been thinking about..in fact I didnt recognise his voice at first as I havent spoken to him in over 12 months, it was someone whom I worked with at a point in both our lives when we fell prey to a con woman:mad:..he now has a full time job in John Lewis..we are meeting up when I come back from GC. Last night I took the plunge to call a friend whom I havent spoken to since July last year - in fact we fell out big style because I dared make a comment about a cat that had died (it wasnt her cat) - it was a silly argument really which meant that we didnt speak but she called me up when I was in hospital which was great. I have kept her at arms distance ever since..as I am wary. The cat thing was mad - she accused me of not being an animal lover because I couldnt see why she was so upset about this flippin' cat but I pointed out that a true animal lover would have had the cat put to sleep to stop it from suffering from cancer (the pitiful creature was stick thin and in constant pain but its owners kept it alive)...hence us falling out for a good long while (rolleyes).
Today, I received a final delivery from lakeland 2 sets of mobile drawer units and have been fixing wheels on them - one is currently in the living room filled with my favor stuff and the other is now in my office filled with office stuff.
The GC thing is coming along a treat and the chappie has promised to send me leads that he gets (can't remember if i have mentioned this or not?). Can't believe that its a little over a week since I fly off:eek:
Trying to get motivated to pick up course work again..it needs doing as its hanging around like a bad smell:eek:
Will be out and about on Friday - I have another networking do on, this time a women only networking event at the casino, I will get a 3 course lunch with glass of wine for £20 (am paying £25 as £5 will go to a charity which helps women with cancer feel great by having beauty treatments).
Have a great day folks - hope you manage to sort yourself out paintsplattered.0 -
Hi gang
Am having a productive day today - sorted out junk this morning, this afternoon rang a photographer that I know to see if he will photograph these wedding dresses that I have as well as photographing the favors I shall make. He has said that he will employ a couple of models for me and take the photos at a pretty church location in Swindon - the models might work out free if I allow the pictures to be used in their portfolio (I don't mind that). Had some news today, the silk bouquets and the favor making machine are now in stock and will be here on Monday:j
Need to do some ironing and start packing my suitcase..there are little piles of stuff lying around the living room ready to go in the case:D
I need to tidy my office too - its getting a tad untidy and need to make up these galvanised steel shelves..need to clear front bedroom too and the shelves can go in there out of the way and I can use them for storing various magazines & brochures thus freeing up space in here.
Now things are starting to happen with my business I am starting to feel more energised and motivated although the thought of actually organising a wedding scares me witless:eek: I know I will be ok as I know what to do - but its like the unknown:eek:
Hope you are all having productive days.0 -

Hi everyone, just on a mission to pay off my debts now. Same old story, was totally in control of my debts all be it hard, get ill, use cards to pay bills and live off, interest and payments go up cant pay afford payment, miss a few payment and no chance of more credit so looking at a DMP.
Has anyone on here done a debt management plan as a self employed person?, just curious how its worked out?. I guess its a lot simpler when you get a monthly wage but as i'm sure we all know, income can be all over the place.
Is there an example Income/Expend form anywhere and what would one of the DMP companies need to be able to try and set one up?.
Thanks in advance0 -
Hi BigCraigJohn
Ive never *crosses fingers* been close to needing a DMP, so I cant really help you... Just wanted to say Hi and welcome you to the board
I actually have some work today with a deadline of this afternoon so I'd better get back to it!
I hope someone will be along soon to help you, if not try one of the other boards... Unfortunately things have gone very quite around here lately
A lot of us on here have debts/worsened debts due to illness (me included) so we know what its like if you want to rant
Also please tell us what you do
I am a freelance translator / proofreading translating /editing documents from German into English. We have quite a lot of creative types on here, writers, jewellry makers, wedding planners as well as some others
Welcome again

Thanks for that.
I'm a vinyl dealer(round black things that your parents have in the loft kids),
99% online using ebay, discogs etc, have had to change the way I work with things going very much digital but theres still a good market, just have to sell more items for less money and do an awful lot of bulk lots on ebay. I also sell diet products for a well known commercial diet which is not online, infact i'm not so "Big" anymore hence how I got into.
The annoying thing is i'm making decent profit but rather than pumping back into the business its going on debts ie £500 I could buy a collection of vinyl with potential resale of £4000 or pay capital one which would be added in interest within 6 weeks hence why I now need to do something. Its either lower my monthly credit card bills or go bankrupt. I dream of the day when the debts are paid off and i'll be earning a very good wage. The debts were mostly ran up while at college and me completely overdoing it as a kid, aswell as 1 or 2 bad business investments which I ofcourse learnt from.
If anyone else can offer any info on the DMP please do0 -
Hi all
have just started out as a sole trader mainly on eBay , currently selling 150 items per week.
I need an accounts package which will take information from eBay and create invoices automatically , and also control stock levels. Mainly because it is taking too long transferring the info manually.
I know about Sage Accounts Plus with middleware Trade Box, but thats going to cost nearly £500. Does anybody know about anything else?
Appreciate your help
