Hi Muddy - baby steps are good when it comes to advertising.
So far today, I have been checking proofs for new business cards - thought I should order some more seeing as I get 2 for 1 at the printers and I have amended them so they now show the letters after my name:cool: Also took a call about a wedding fair at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry next January - they can send the information, I may or may not book. Need to have a chat with Paul when I can speak again about being his UK gay wedding agent and doing the post wedding parties...at least it will be money coming in as opposed to flowing out:eek:
Have a great weekend all..I shall be vegging out and waiting for my online shopping order to arrive on Saturday afternoon - food at long last:D0 -
Thanks Muddy, baby steps good! I need to do the same and promote the business a bit more. Someone said to me the other day that the days have gone where you sit back and wait for customers to come to you, you have to go out and find them. I have not been going out to find them and if i am honest, i have been a bit too complaicant recently.
Like the sound of the gay weddings H! I too am a bit like old mother hubbard and will have to do the grocery run maybe tomorrow. When the OH was in hospital, people brought me food parcels! It was hysterical! I had more food than i could eat yet i have managed to shed a stone!!!!!! My racing snake like figure may return from having gone south for the winter!
The shop is quieter today but have had a few big sales so its a normal day's takings. I threw another nasty man out of the building on Monday - i took his products off the shelves and told him where to put them or would he like me to put them there instead. Boy it felt good!
Hope everyone well, glad to be back in touch again,

TCM - having to throw someone out doesn't sound like much fun! Sounds like you're well rid though.
I had a new client on Saturday - it was only for a £5 treatments but she seemed pleased. Anyway, yesterday there was a note through my door saying how much she'd enjoyed the treatment and she'd be booking again. Fingers crossed!
It's a busy week here with both work and ferrying the children round here, there and everywhere. Can't wait until the Easter holidays!

TCM what is it with you and suppliers that you have to chuck them out of your shop?
Well done on the new client Muddy.
Sorry I have been quiet - although my laryngitis has gone, I am now riddled with mouth ulcers and have a streaming cold so all networking other than online networking has been cancelled. I am part way through completing a form for housing benefit run on but I need my wits about me so have had to put it on one side until I stop sneezing..I am getting bored now and am grumpy because I hate being ill as it slows me down:mad: I have taken the day off today and will probably do the same tomorrow - I have even switched my mobile off..the folks can listen to my voicemail message and leave a message.
I am really grumpy today so I shall disappear and maybe poke my head in tomorrow.0 -
Horace, have you got "man flu"????!!!! As we all know it is the worst kind of aliment anyone can ever have! Don't be doing the grumpy thing!! Hope you get better soon, lots of hot choccy, bikkies and day time telly in the meantime!
Muddy, i am going for a massage tonight and i cannot wait. I have been referred to a lovely & wonderful counseller through my GP to help me with all the OH strife & the charity she works for have given me 6 aromatherapy treatments. Apparently the girl i am going to doesn't charge nearly enough to encourage new clients in as she is fairly new but i may just go back off my own bat if she is good.
Re the throwing reps out - the "new" me is not going to suffer fools anymore. Reps, in the "current economic climate" should be nice to me if they want my business, if they are not, then they shall be polietly shown the exit. I shake like a leaf at the time, but afterwards i think i maybe should have done this that or the other but my business should be of value to them. I am a good customer who doesn't normally complain, i get on well with my suppliers and i usually pay bills 100% & don't quibble.
Shop has gone quiet again on me - i noticed yesterday a lovely little gift shop in the town has closed and a local resturant/pub which is fab has gone into administration. the owner is a customer of mine & i feel for him & his family. On the inlaw front, i am still giving them a wide bearth which may not be the best answer but at the min is working for me!
Hope everyone well,

Hi all
I am feeling loads better today as I summonsed up enough energy to go for a short walk thus passing loads of people as I sneezed and snuffled on my way..it wiped me out for the rest of the day but today I am no longer sneezy, my nose has stopped running but now have catarrh instead:j Maybe up to some work towards the end of the week.
Reps need to be nice if they want your business..so I can see why you have chucked them out of your shop. Hope you enjoy your aromatherapy sessions too TCM.
Emailed my accountant yesterday asking for a set of prepared accounts - need to phone her as she hasnt responded...I need them for this stupid form as it saves me filling in loads of other stuff.
Should be up and about properly at the end of the week. 4N 'friend' who passed away last Friday has her funeral on Thursday but I am not going - too far to go in my condition and I will feel a bit odd going as I never met her..in her honour I shall wear my lime green mac and have a couple of minutes quiet reflection.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Hope you enjoy your aromatherapy TCM - wonder which oils she'll use. I've just put geranium and bergamot in the burner....they always cheer me up.
Horace - sounds like you're on the mend which is great. I don't blame you not going to the funeral though. You don't want to make yourself worse. At least you'll be thinking of her...that's the important thing.
I've managed to hurt my knee. It's been dodgy for a while but our dogs running into it this morning really wasn't good. I'm going to try the 'ignore it and it will be fine approach' though I'm not sure it's working!
I've had a lovely busy day and tomorrow it's my turn for treatments with the lady I swap with. Talking of swaps - yesterday a client who does some treatments asked me to start swapping with her. I felt a bit guilty but said no as I already swap with two people. In the past I would have just said yes and then wished I hadn't. She's booked in again anyway so I think she's fine about it.
School run time...no peace for the wicked!
Hope you're all having fun and the tills and going ting, ting, ting (or whatever noise tills make nowadays!) xx0 -
Glad that you are on the mend Horace! Flu is miserable. I too have had to email the accountant - I have changed accountants recently and love my new one, although the OH did accuse me of having an affair with him when he was in hospital (even though i was at hospital every day and with his family or in work the rest of the time and the man is 70 odd!)
Muddy, the aromatherapy was wonderful. I think bergamot was used and yang yang (?) or something that sounded like it! I was walking on air when i came out.
The OH had a little blip yesterday but nothing that was too bad. I suppose i am just panicing. He will have "off" days but its knowing what a normal off day is or is is something to be concerned about. So I paniced and phoned the helplines to see what to do and it seems i have to have patience. Hmm.
My mum is at me to come out to her in Spain for a while too to get a break. Sunshine sounds good, but I am so skint it is unbelievable!
Hope everyone busy,
T xx0 -
morning all, sorry i havent been around much recently, i have been so busy packing and sorting and im not coping very well with the move. Seems a bit ridiculous but the panick attacks are plaging again because of moving so far. I'm still excited though and hope ill calm down once im out there and settled down.
I had a great phone call last week from a wedding shop asking me to try and design a range for them to view with a view to selling in their shop. so fingers crossed something might come of that its just hard to fit it in with everything else at the moment.
Glad your starting to feel better horace.
TCM sounds like you need a break as well.
Hope everyones having fun and keeping busyback to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Hi all...I thought I was on the mend but I am not and have been quite ill the past few days, last night was the last straw because I coughed so much that it got a bit bloody:eek: so where I had an appointment booked for Monday with a med student and video camera, I managed to get an emergency 5 min appointment today - 5 mins turned into 15:eek: and it would appear that I have a bacterial lung infection so now I am on antibiotics (care needed as I am allergic to pretty much all of them:eek:). My new glasses are ready at the eye hospital and I am picking them up on 7 April.
JP - deep breaths young lady, packing is stressful and so is not being able to park your car on the grass (see I have been reading your FB status reports). Think of it as an adventure - you are going somewhere warm, they speak English (always good) and you are away from the outlaws, your parents can come and visit - Cyprus isnt that far and I am sure they are looking forward to a break from our weather. Well done on the wedding shop thing as well - you can design your tiaras and they can sell them, you can box them up and send them to the shop from Cyprus.
TCM - don't get me started on accountants, I need some prepared accounts so that I can get my HB so mine promised that she would either do them on 24 or 25th March and send them (most likely via email) to me and today is 26 March and I am still waiting:mad: When folks get like your OH - they don't think straight nor logically and tend to lash out and make ridiculous accusations, all you can do is be patient and if your mum wants you to go to Spain for a break, ask if she will pay for you to go...the break will do you good.
Muddy - you can't keep giving swapsies otherwise you will never make any money. Sorry to hear about your knee though - hope its nothing serious?
I was incensed yesterday - you have never seen me so mad. My group leader at 4N announced via email that he was now keeping half the money raised for Pash to donate to a charity that our group hasnt decided upon..it feels as though he is graverobbing. Unfortunately, Pash didnt get her holiday but we are all holding the money raised until it is decided what it is to be used for - it maybe a grant thing in 4N or it may go to a charity of the family's choice. The way it was put to me was that the chap that has bid for my time has said that he doesnt mind if the money goes to this new charity but then this guy hasnt even contacted me about what he wants me to do even though I know he is getting married this year. I was so angry that I contacted the Area Leader last night but he hasnt checked his messages and I am thinking of walking away from the Marketing Assistant post on principle because I don't want to be involved with thieves because I think that that is what is going on..they seem to think that its ok Pash is no longer with us so she won't miss it if we don't handover the full £700 that we raised:mad: See I am still mad now. I actually have a good mind to withdraw my services..I am that flippin' angry...not sure what I should do really...sorry for ranting.
On a good note, I was approached today by a 4N member asking if I would be interested in joining forces with a kitchen company to offer new kitchens to couples as wedding presents..needless to say I am sort of interested but want to know more before I commit to anything.0
