I've not been doing much SE although tried to drum up a little adhic stuff at my local butchers LOL no dice tho the spoilsport
BUT have been very good and now have 12 - yes 12!!! bundles ready to list on Ebay of baby clothes! Going to stick them on tomorrow evening - too late tonight I think... *sigh* hoping loads more people are home next week and might be bidding LOL
Still have a small mountain to photograph and list - EEEEP Ah well - small steps and all that...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Afternoon all.
I have been very sloth like again today - I am sure its the weather:rolleyes: I am convinced that my uveitis has returned as my left eye is a bit painful and feels odd..so best start self medicating again:rolleyes:
Wrote and posted three begging letters today, received an email from MMF asking for a resonably established artist to work with Chevrolet on an advert and 5 gigs so I have put the band forward and mentioned that they had worked with Harley Davidson on the past..so fingers crossed.
Business Link sent me an email/eshot today about some free courses so I have booked up for two of them - one Jan and one Feb. The first one is about marketing & PR on a shoestring budget (I am shoestring) and the second one is about writing sales letters, quotes, proposals and tenders. Plenty of opportunity for networking so need plenty of business cards which reminds me that I only have 100 cards left out of the 1000 bought earlier this year:eek:
Have tweeted and networked online although I am fed up of folks that say they will call, I was promised a call yesterday afternoon and the person didnt? and today I rang a group called Women on their Way and was frustrated by the message "this is an answerphone please leave a message" - not very professional at all:rolleyes:
Did I mention Rachel Elenaugh? Have been tweeting with her and now stand by my judgement of her when she was on Dragon's Den..so far up her own posterior and not a particularly nice person. Anyway who is she to give me business advice - she went bust in a big way, I am at least keeping my business ticking over with mystery shops and I am not going to get into huge amounts of debt either - heck I haven't even got a business credit card or even a debit card.0 -
Horace, i am sure it is the weather - i think as well when we've all worked so flippin hard during the year, i don't know about you, but i am ready for a few days off over christmas, yet i can ill afford to take them. I am down over £2000 on where i was this time last year, i have reduced my prices, shopped for stock carefully yet the same footfall is not coming through the door. Although when we get moved it will not stress me the same as a bad days takings should in theory pay a month's rent.
On a mission today, going to sell the shop out!0 -
HI Everyone,
I have ahd another interesting day. One of my clients has asked me to do slightly more work for ALOT more pay! he wants to cahnge the scheduling slightly and it looks like more work - but realistically it will be about 2 extra hours a week. So from just one client I will now be getting £600 a month. My other client brings in £290 a month so I am geting ever so close to my target of £1000. I still do the odd bit of other work too - so if that continues then I might just get there.
It really pays off to be consistent in your work, always meet deadlines and to have high expectations of your own standards. it just seems to apy off for me. It seems that my clients want me to stay with them and are willing to pay me to do so. Can't ask for better than that.
Having said all that - i have the rest of the months work to complete by Christmas Eve. Doable but pushing it....then I am taking a week off yippee!0 -
Hi everyone
Well done Megs on your client giving you extra work for more money.:j
TCM..I need a few days off over Christmas, I am desperate for a break. I am wondering if there is anything else that I can turn my hand to so that I can earn more money trouble is I don't want to go and work for anyone else:rolleyes: I know that I am in need of a break because I think my uveitis has returned:mad: - my left eye feels distinctly uncomfortable and congested so I started self-medicating today and have increased my eye drops from once a day to 6 times a day and then I will gradually reduce them again over the coming weeks.
Just had a thought for another christmas present and have just fished out a little heart shaped crystal pin tray (suitable for dressing table) that I picked up in the charity shop for £1 last year - I have just had a proper look at it (tried to peel the price tag off) and have noticed the word Waterford etched on the bottom:cool: Now I feel less inclined to give it away as a present:rolleyes:0 -
Whoop Whoop Whoop - I have been asked to put my name forward for a start up business award:money::j I need to write 350 words about my business and why I should be considered for the award.0
-
Wow Horace - where did that come from? Who put you forward? Post your 350 words and we can all help you to make it sound great - I am sure it will anyway, of course!
Anyone got any snow yet? We have had a few flurries but nothing substantial yet. I am kind of hoping it snaows loads and I won't have to get up to take the kids to school. They are looking forward to a day off!
I have party to go to on Saturday night - a friends 40th. The kids are going too. I have been out today a bought my daughter a new dress, cardigan and shoes all from matalan for £21 all in. I had considered a dress in Next for £28 but would have had to get a cardigan and shoes on top. I can't belive they charge that sort of money for a childs dress. it is a rip off. I found my dress in the local charity shop - a debenhams shift dress in black and silver. Fully lined and looks like it was worn maybe twice. £7.50.... I love a bargain!0 -
Well done Megs on the extra work and income boost! Thats great news for you! And well done too Horace!!!!!! Its great that your talents are being recognised.
I've had a peculiar day today - i ordered in some half price "equestrian designer" bits and bobs and have almost sold out of some lines. I have Welly Warmers retailing at £7.99 instead of £15 RRP and i have 2 pairs left out of 20! Yet very few folk are coming in and Christmas shopping. I've had a few in for hampers at £5 for secret Santas when really i should be selling nice warm coats and blankeys to keep the horses warm. Strange.
No snow here yet. So long as it doesn't come till i get my burger and chippys as this is my late night! Today, I have also counsilled 2 customers who are in unhappy marriages, and one whose mum is not very well.
No Xmas parties for me this year unfortunatley, so i think i will put a posh frock on on Saturday night and make a nice dinner, just to see if the OH notices!
Hope everyone doing ok, x0 -
congrats horace.
we had little bits of snow but nothing great, supposedly its coming tonight. we hhave a christmas party on saturday to, was going to get everyone a small outfit for christmas untill i looked at the bank account to find out john has done all his sums wrong and were i should have had £150 for the rest of the month i now only have £5, what an idiot how can you get it so wrong, thankfully have the overdraft but took the mortgage break to clear that and that hasnt happened so im still going to be skint in the new year. still need to work out christmas dinner and getting home the day after boxing day, need to sort our house that we reantout thanks to the last tennant and now i cant afford any paint i dont know what im going to do.
looking forward to christmas, noah finished nursery today so got some time with my babies now. and hopefully they will sleep in wich would be great. hope everyone gets some good snow soon lolback to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Hi all
The award thingy has come from Women on Their Way - they follow me on twitter and I spoke to one of the directors yesterday and she told me to nominate myself:cool: Had a rough night last night as the power went off at 8.10pm and I have no idea when it came back on again but it was after midnight. It was -4 here too so went to bed wearing the clothes I was already wearing as I didnt want to put icy cold ones on:eek:
Its too cold to snow here today although there is still lying snow from yesterday so I don't doubt that when it warms up we will get some.
Well done on the sales of your wellie warmers TCM. JP - ask on freegle for paint and you may pick up some free. I take it that the former tenant has left the house in a mess? I hope you haven't returned the deposit they paid.
Had toyed with going to the eye hospital today to get my eye pressures checked but I don't want to go out and stand waiting for two buses so I havent gone and probably won't go..I know its bad but I am hoping that its just a headache or even uveitis. I rang the eye casualty this morning and the sister sounded bored and disinterested this is probably another reason why I can't be bothered:rolleyes:0
