I think this is awful...........just try a few celebrity names in London........its a stalkers paradise! I've e-mailed them to remove my details although out of date they'd only be one address away from where I live and as I rent out that property I could be found easy enough. I wouldn't want to be found by at least one of my relatives!0

You can ask to be removed via the site BUT they ask for home phone number, mobile number and verifiable email address! So you have to give them even more personal information to retain your "privacy"."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Was going to say what ka7e said - you can't remove your name and address without giving them your phone number - in my case my ex directory phone no
Its way out of date though - has me living with my previous partner which is about 5 years out of date.I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0 -
I'm bloody annoyed that I've opted out of the full electoral roll publication too, checked on b4u and my name and street is listed, no phone number (so ex-directory worked on that) ..then checked the "neighbours" link and it gives my full name and full address! So I've done the "remove me" function on b4u and await a phone call to "verify" myself! Who the f$** do these people think they are?
As for 192.com, I can see my name listed but to view details in full they ask for payment  , assuming they have the same details as b4u - anyone have the email or phone no for 192.com please ? as I'm loathe to pay for a "service" that I don't want to use nor have I given permission for them to show my details! grrrrrrrr
[edit]
Just found the form to fill in to remove your details from 192.com
http://www.192.com/downloads/C01.pdf
I'll be posting it to them as I'm not paying £1.50 per min to fax it! GRRRRRRR and double GRRRRRRRRR0 -
Surely blaming these websites is like blaming the company that made your TV for the stuff that's shown on it? They're only providing access to information sold to them by the relevant authorities.
I do agree it's wrong to charge people premium rate phone calls to have information taken off though.0 -

but you have to pay to view such details on 192.comThere's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

You're wrong Zappo, This company B4u is deliberately using 2001 electoral roll information (it says this on the site when you click 'electoral roll') because it knows that post 2001 rolls are incomplete because people have requested to be invisible.
This is a deliberate attempt by B4u to circumvent the law that became clarified after the 2001 electoral roll. And it is not something which anyone with any ounce of common sense or decency should be condoning or saying is "nothing to be concerned about".0
