Not only am I on there and all of my neightbours (well actually the ones that lived there 3 years ago) but I found my father listed, who died over a year ago. Needless to say I'm not impressed. I am also deliberately not on the electoral roll due to a previous violent incident, for which the police still keep an eye on me and my children. Needless to say the person I'm supposed to be protected from can find out where I am with one click.
HRiding out the receession.........0 -

None of your business, isn't that the point of this thread?"Don't just stand there - do something!"0 -
There's nothing particularly new about this site - the information has always been available at libraries, and on the internet using 192.com which was established almost ten years ago.
In theory they do have your permission if you haven't gone ex-directory and opted out of the edited electoral roll. I realise though that that doesn't help anyone who wants to protect their privacy and hasn't moved house since 2002.
I think it does have legitimate uses: an earlier post has reminded me that I'm owed money by someone and as I can access both 192.com and the infodisk for free at work, I'll be tracking them down tomorrow.0 -
Well we're all more aware of the danger of identity theft now.
I sent an email to legal@192.com and it hasn't bounced back, so ...."Don't just stand there - do something!"0 -

I've always opted out of the electoral roll and have always been ex-directory yet I'm still on there list? Never replied to my e-mail either about removing me from there list after giving them 28 days to do so, now must decide my next move.0 -
I think you've only been able to opt out since 2002, and the date they're using is from 2001?.0

Awaiting in anticipation for a member to mention "litigation"/suing B4u or something of a legal nature....which of course, is inevitable.
Get a grip.
Not getting over excited at all. I am Ex-directory, have opted out of electoral role access, have opted out of spam mail and calls, yet I am still listed on the site.
I don't know what you do for a living but some of us would prefer others not to know our in's and out's, and having spent considerable time and effort to keep my private life private, I am miffed to see that somewhere down the line people see fit to publicise it.

I'm with you, Benny24.
B4USearch did delete my data promptly, and even wrote to confirm it.
You may find the following article interesting. They have things even worse in the States.
