I was under the vague impression that it was illegal under data protection act? No, I am not threatening to sue anyone, I am just going to make sure that my details are removed, and wanted to warn anyone else in a similar situation so that they could do the same.

I have checked 192.com and see they have me for 2003 as well. I am guessing the fault is with my council, they have ignored my refusal by the looks of it, I shall be growling at them. In the meantime does anyone know a decent estate agent..... :rolleyes:

I don't seem to be on there but I found plenty of people I know listed on there - I'm sure they won't be too happy to hear about this site :mad: !

I'm sorry that you feel this way.

I expend a great deal of effort to keep my privacy, never throwing away or recycling anything with my address or other personal details on it. This is how your identity can be stolen.) I refuse to be put on the edited register, or any company mailing lists. I'm also registered on TPS and MPS to add extra safeguards.

So when I find that some website has bought my data from somewhere, I'll reserve the right to get a bit peeved. :mad:

I have had confirmation from my council that I am not now and never have been showing on the generally available version of the electoral register - they cannot understand how my details have got out either.

Hi Guys,

I found a link to this site on another thread here a few days ago.

Searched and found myself. Sent them an email asking them to remove my details ASAP and received a reply from them the next morning saying they had removed me.

Searched for myself and they have removed me BUT if I search for one of my neighbours and click to look at neighbours, I'm still on there!

Not a happy bunny at all, I too like a few here am a private person and don't like me details for all and sundry to see.

Especially when people on another forum take offence to something I have posted and then proceed to make 3 IDs containing my full name, my partners name and my address to spam the forums with!

Thank God I've always been ex-directory otherwise no doubt I would have had crank calls too.

The fact that people are on there when they have had it confirmed that they are not and have never been on the edited register is worrying, something has gone very wrong somewhere along the line! I don't see b4usearch.com as being at fault here as they are just providing access to data that is easily available, more the fault of those responsible for managing the electoral role.

What is the point of the site if it is holding old information anyway?

You look up a long lost friend/family member, get their address, send them a letter/call at the address, then find out they moved/died 4 years ago!

Regarding the reply I had from them saying they had removed my details, here is the reply :

Dear Michelle,

Following your request, I have removed all entries from our database. Your
details should then no longer appear on the website. Would you have any
further request, please do not hesitate to contact me.

So if you are going to mail for removal of your details, maybe put 'RE Pascal/Manager' in the subject of your mail?
