I used the Allan Car Only Way to Stop Smoking book, it is easier to stop smoking than it is to finish the book...
I honestly can't recommend it highly enough. It is without any doubt whatsoever the best return on investment imaginable. Cigarettes were about £3 per pack when I read the book ten years ago, when means Allan Carr's £7 book has saved me ten grand. Yes, ten thousand pounds.
And I have never once wanted a cigarette since reading his book, I didn't give up smoking, I stopped smoking.
I have recently applied the same technique in order to stop drinking, and it is something he mentions in his book. I would also recommend his Easy Weigh to Lose Weight book, although I can't claim it has been an unqualified success, it certainly does make you think very differently not just about food, but also about the accepted wisdom, it is definitely a paradigm shift.0 -
Was okay till we needed to go to town. Decided we'd go in my car, which is now No Smoking zone (obviously) but OH had other ideas and wanted one. After my objections he didn't light up, but I was met with stony silence for the rest of the journey
.
Middle of the day fine, then another row ensued at tea time. Instead of shrugging it off, i decided to take the mother of all strops and ended up driving off to the beach - in floods of OTT tears. Still didn't give in though and after letting the wind blow away the blues - went home and all's now fine!
It's only 3 days but the smell of OH is already getting to me. Also know what you mean about tasting food again ..... Oh well, I did get through it though, and I'm only up to 16 WW Points, so I can still have a cake with a cuppa later!! :T :T :T
How's everyone else doing today?0 -
awww well done ceebeeby - it must be even more difficult to give up with somebody else smoking so close to you. Good luck
and remember even through all the bad moods at least your not smoking:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
I gave up smoking from 40 a day for 10 years 2 years ago. The way I did it was both using patchs and herbal ciggy's!
That way I got the nicotine from the patches and still got to smoke!
Once I was over the nicotine via the patches the herbal ones were easy to give up because they did nothing. Try it!0 -
:j I smoked for 15 years (and had numerous attempts to stop). The best thing that I did was read Allen Carrs easy way to stop smoking. I can not tell you how much it helped (or why) but I have not smoked for 2 and a half years now. Nor have I had any desire to. I hate to preach (as I know ex smokers can be sanctimonious!) but I reall do feel so much better (and better off!) for it. Keep trying and if you do slip off the wagon don't beat yourself up about it, just try again. Good luckTotal Debt £2178

Hi Ozzyfan
Aww..never mind. Yes, try a different route and try again. We're all behind you on this. Hope you can sort your PC out too!
I'm doing OK..now on day 2. Difficult habit is when I've been energetic for 10 mins (doing a job around the house, etc) and decide to have a cup of coffee...and then want a ciggie. So have cut the drinks down too and now think changing to water would be better (healthier anyway).
Need to find a cream or something for where yesterday's patch has been...itching like crazy!
Excellent ceebeeby! Must be incredibly hard with OH still smoking - I admire your willpower. :TBack on the DFW Wagon:
