    Hi Guys,

How are you all? I'm sorry again that I've not been around on the site - we went to London for the week-end to see step-children, visit attractions and scatter ashes.

It's so great that everyone seems to still be going ... well done. Oooh, but I know how it feels to be a wee touch tetchy at this time.

Up to day 13 now, and still not had one  each day does seem to be a wee bit easier than the day before (I hope this comment helps anyone especially if you're thinking of stopping tomorrow, or on day 1 or day 2).

As previously mentioned, went cold turkey for this and still seems to be manageable .... anyway, hope this helps someone and again, well done everyone!!

:T :T Well done all you quitters out there :T :T Lets keep it up eh?? Its nice to hear people stories of how they did it and how different everyones experiences are.On the replacement vs willpower vs Allen Carr..I think each to their own hey if it helps why not?
It doesn't make any difference HOW you do it and I for one think its great to come to this thread for SUPPORT.. and understanding from fellow quitters as well as ex smokers..so I would very much like it to be kept lighthearted and positive and about quitting not to be turned into a debate about smoking..And please remember our golden rule be nice to all Moneysavers :D
I think the dark one summed up my own position beautifully..

With regards to seeing family members/friends who are ill due to smoking, a lot of the time it is easier said than done to quit, quite often it will have the reverse effect and actually make you want to have a cigarette because the situation is so terrible/stressful!

I actually lost my dear MIL in July to lung cancer caused by smoking..I know smoking is bad for me,my immediate family has been decimated by cancer also..I am packing up for MY family..I am no good to them in a box..I know this but until now I was definately NOT in the right frame of mind for it,which is the main battle..*sorry for the rant..*

On a happier note... I'm still going !!!!!!!!!!! I am using the inhilator still as I haven't been able to get out the garden (too wet) to keep my hands busy..the boys are home so I can't sew..and the freezer will explode if I put anymore baked goodies in there :rotfl: OH is not ducking as I speak to him now either so my 'moodies' must be lessening too :D The house is actually sparkling due to my scrubbing and cleaning (I always do this when I quit???) The curtains and wardrobes/linen cupboards have been totally turned out washed and so has the sofa :rotfl: so if anyone needs a mad scrubber to come and help when the boys go back feel free to let me know ;)
I look forward to seeing how everyone else is getting on are you all out there still??????????? :D

Im bumping this thread for new quitters and an update on us 'old' quitters.

Im still not smoking but really had a big wobble last week :o we were away in London for a few days and after a nice meal and a few vinos I REALLY REALLY wanted a cigarette. My daughter stopped me and I had one of my inhilator cartridges - it really hurt my throat so I have to keep remembering that. Anyway I didnt have a ciggy so next week is week 6 for me :j

So come on how is everybody else doing ?????

ps - if the offer of a scrubber is still there D & DD I got loads of scrubbing to do LOL. Funny I didnt get the urge to scrub my house out when I packed in smoking - didnt even get it when I was pregnant either. I think it must be genetic or Im just a slob.

husband has copd and he says he has stopped, we know still smokes, he has just gone on to steroids for the sixth time this year. it causes no end of friction with 2 grown up daughters .
one daughter expecting our first granchild, tried asking hubby to give up for new babes arrival . most times he cannot admit he still smokes although i can smell it on him, he never smokes in house but will sit in car on drive and smoke, in all weathers , how pathetic is that . my husband thinks i have lost my sense of smell and sight.

My quit day is Thursday and I'm armed with patches (or will be when chemist re-opens on Tuesday). This time I WILL do it.

Well, after 5 days away, I'm saddened to say I caved in on Thursday and had one cigarette.

After getting the stock of lozenges, the first one gave me an immediate sore throat and indigestion!! So I was plodding through the week on a mixture of friends smoke fumes, patches, lozenges and some willpower thrown in for good measure!

I guess the nicotine levels in my body are up and down like a yo-yo which probably doesn't help me emotionally!

On a lighter note, being with the family today, my Mum asked why I hadn't been out for a ciggie after lunch .. cue..ooh, erm, I'm not smoking anymore. Reply...(can't repeat expletives :rotfl: ) but all 14 guests went very quiet and stared at me quite strangely :rotfl: Me? I just asked who wanted a cup of tea and disappeared into the kitchen!!

So, strategy for this week is...erm, just not smoke! :D

And keep looking for D&DDs eagerly awaited updates :rotfl:

Seriously, well done to everyone. And when the going gets tough...come on here for support!

  • Hi All,

God bless Allen Carr. I'm slightly cranky, but on the whole its a lot easier this time although I'm not updating my sig just yet to be cautious.
Ozzy fan - Please keep posting, I've pm'd you and apologies for the length of time its taken, I get pm's so rarely I forget to check for them.
All - Well done to so many of you! I'm thrilled at how well we're all doing and this includes those that havn't quit yet - just starting to think about stopping is a positive step as its too easy to be in denial full stop.
    I'll keep you posted

Good luck to all new quitters, well done old(er) ones ... and Ali-ok, well done to you specially - aren't family fun!!!

Day 20 for me - and I did get rid of all the old fags around the house. I think I'm gonna be a grumpy ex-smoker though, already I can't stand the smell (or is it jealousy??)

    Anyway, keep going everyone!
