I too havent read all of these post as there are just too many.....
What i wanted to say was that i stopped smoking nearly 3 years ago and havent looked back since. I smoked 20 a day and smoked for about 10-12 year. I loved a cigarette as much as the next man and smoking ruled my life. I stopped after reading the Alan Carr book (how to stop smoking) and i can honestly say that i dont think there is any other way to do it. Dont borrow the book from the library because then you have to give it back and its so much better if you have it in case of an emergency. Reading through some of these posts i am really shocked at how people are quick to start smoking again at the slightest little blip or problem, this is not the alan carr way and just really points out how weak you are as people that at the hint of a problem the only solution is a cigarette. Also those people who are wearing patches.. so what .. what have you stopped? nothing you are still getting your nicotine fix just via another way.. the only thing that is different is that you are not putting a cigarette to your mouth. If you really want to stop smoking then you should bite the bullet and just stop and i promise that reading the alan carr book will help you do this, no patches, no saving your money up in a pot just stopping because you want to, with no gimicks or tricks... come on people how weak are you that your every waking moment revolves around a little stick of tabacco.
Sorry if this seems harsh but a lot of you on here seem to be making rubbish excuses about how you had to have a cigarette, and lots of you have very tragic stories about friends and relatives who are dying in a lot of pain through smoking and that still doesnt motivate you, i think thats shocking.

No doubt this post will generate a lot of angry people but i stand by my word, if you really want to stop then you will patches or no patches.

(i am not on commision from alan carr)

    Hi Guys,

Sorry, sorry, sorry - sometimes I just don't know where the time goes  anyway - goodnews :T I've got through days 7, 8 and almost 9!! Bit of a trial coming up this afternoon, I'm off to the airport in a couple of hours, and I'm a frequent but not brave flier  and I usually stock up on at least 4 fags before stepping foot in the terminal!! So, here goes - I've chewing gum at the ready - and kids to hand to yell at if needs be :D (only joking all kiddy lovers!!)

I quickly skimmed stories above and youze are all doing so well :j :j :j

I'm now past longest stopped (with exceptions of pregnancies which was obviously 9ish months) in 16 years!!!

    Hooray!!

    Well done again everyone.

Thank you D & DD for asking about my gran. I was really pleased when I went to see my gran. It was a four and a half hour round for a 30 min visit trip but she looked better than I thought she would. Still not sure how long she won't be able to walk for or when they will be able to transfer her back home but i'm a lot happier in myself. I think I put my BF through hell. I'll have to treat him over the weekend.

Thanks again for all your support everyone.

Speak to you all soon. Thanks.

    Hi everyone

Glad your Gran is doing OK Charlotte.

Been patchless today and doing OK so far. Got a busy weekend lined up, so that will keep me out of trouble!! (And I get a lay-in tomorrow...hooray!!)

Dooj - appreciate your honesty, but Allen Carr doesn't work for everyone, hence I am doing my route in steps. Doesn't make me any less determined and if people think that is weak, then that is their opinon and that's fine.

Well done ceebeeby :T Hope the aiport/flying was OK. How much gum did you get through?!!

    Ozzyfan - woohoo - 4 days already!

Can't wait to read D&DD's account of the day! :rotfl:

    Hi D&DD

Happy Anniversary! I'm in stitches reading your posts! :rotfl: And well done :j

I've been in 'slow' mode today and apart from getting my hair cut and doing a few household jobs (washing, etc), it's been pretty quiet here.

Found a new hobbie - it's called admin! After changing goodness knows what for better deals, there's paperwork coming through the letterbox at a rate of knots and its keep my hands busy filing/updating spreadsheets/cancelling DDs online, etc! (Oh and popping on here!)

No patches again, not been into town (but definitely going tomorrow), feeling chilled (must be Ozzyfan's herbal cigs wafting over my way ;) !!)

Have to rev myself up tomorrow...haven't even got a suitcase out and we go off early Monday morning for the week

1 week and 1 day so far :T

Hiya smoke free wannabees - well done everybody and happy anniversary to D & DD. I popped round to a friends house tonight ( been avoiding it because I know she smokes ) I actually managed to sit there while she had a ciggy and didnt even have a drag. Im away next week too Ali and I havent even got my suitcase out let alone ironed anything to wear........ actually let alone done the washing yet. So much for me keeping myself busy while I was packing in smoking - think that has passed over all too quickly. Oh well I had a tidy house for a few days

Ooh, I feel ever so smug now...I even watched the weather forecast last night and made sure I did the washing first thing this morning to get it out and dry on the line before the predicted rain we had later on! :D

Old me would have just shoved it in the tumble dryer!

Well done on going round your friends...I've got this to face next week...the friend I'm going to stay with also smokes. If anything I'm hoping the smell will put me off!
