If you are happy with an older dog too then I can strongly recommend The Oldies Club
They usually have older dogs too and in all manner of sizes and shapes and they will have been given health check etc and usually temperament tested too
Alternatively I would try maybe somewhere like Yorkishire terrier breed rescue?
I don't much care for the smaller toy breeds myself but each to their ownJust please don't get one out of the free adds...

There's no need to be like that, if someone asks about homing a Dog from preloved it's normal to assume they might not know much about Dogs, as most people who do know not to touch places like that with a barge pole. All fo the comments whether questions or advice were made with the best of intentions I can assure you.
I know alot about Dogs too, having worked with them & spent many years living with them (Tho none have been owned by me) & when I chose to get one I came here & there was a HUGE thread about it in which I recieved all sorts of advice & it was great to get the help. Thanks to the people here I have the perfect Dog & am really happy as she's been way better than I ever anticipated.
Why post if you don't want to recieve replies that may not be ones you'd want to hear?Someone coming on here saying they're enquiring about a Pup from Preloved that preferably is vax'd & trained doesn't sound like a knowledgeable Owner, so my comments at least were aimed to find out if you do know about the Dogs & to help. How can you expect help if we don't know your situation, and IMO giving you things to think about is a good thing not bad!
But I do hope that you can understand why I was put on the defensive - it was not your earlier post. I am not stupid, but then you do not know that, but I do find it offensive to be treated in that way and the suggestion that I wanted a dog that had already been vaccinated because I did not want to pay for it, put my back up.
I asked a serious question - and was advised against the site, thank you for that.
Suggestions for where I may be able to find a suitable pet for me would be gratefully received.
A year or so I came on here asking for help and advice and everyone was great and supportive. May be its not a good day............Genie

I got it too when after a Dog but i'm glad cause it helped me find the best Dog for me & i'm sure there's the perfect one for you out there. You could try a forum called Dogpages, it's full of Rescues & Rescues from all over the country post on there it's really good!0 -

Genie, if you have a specific breed in mind, try the breed rescues or even the breed clubs themselves. Many many pups are returned to breeders because the new owners find they didnt realise what they were letting themselves in for and also breeders often have older pups that they were running on in the hope they had a show dog in the making.
I too would advise keeping well away from the free ads. Two reasons, one - full of scammers and two - many people are not too truthful about the reasons for giving up their pup/dog. You could end up with an animal that has a chronic medical problem which will cost you a fortune. If you do want to think about a rescue then please go through a reputable rescue centre, for peace of mind0 -
I dont think the Oldies Club would suit you, they are normally dogs of 7 years and older. I think you are looking for a younger one. Thats why Id suggest you contact rescues like Battersea or Enfield, Prodog direct or Mayhew. All in reach of Essex. You could try Poodles in Need or how about a Schnauzer which is also non-moulting?
Im sorry if you took offense, but we do get people on here and other sites who have no idea of what is involved in looking after a dog and I sometimes feel like telling them to get a stuffed one if they expect perfection.
Have a look at Battersea's site and the others. The right pooch is out there and I hope you find him/her and have a long happy life together.0 -
Ive pmd you with a girl who may be suitable0

That's ageism so that is :rotfl: They do get some under 7 too in fairness but even at 7 they still have many a good year in them and 99.9% of the time they're very well trained and definitely house trainedA huge bonus if you like most don't have the time to go through housetraining a puppy and want a dog you can take to work straight away
