Hi Jeannieblue - Yorkies are supposedly unlikely to cause irritation... I dunno, I am not allergic, thank goodness, but I read it somewhere - hang on, I will have a google...
yup, apparently they are on the 'least likely to cause allergies' list, along with airdales and poodles! http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/information/atozofdogs/a/allergiestodogs/
Oh, hethmar - just saw you on the Sammi thread - sorry didnt read it all before - doh! she is a very ladylike pretty dog, hope she has found her home!`0 -
I'm still hankering for a poodle.........
Going to make some phone calls today - will keep you informed.

Please dont rush into buying a puppy
I've been waiting for this moment for over three years.......... it has taken me this long to wear my bosses down! This is the longest I have ever been without a dog, and I really really hate it.
I have considered other small breeds, but I was very happy with my miniature Fred that I was lucky to have for sixteen years. He was hilarious and fitted just right on my bed! Josie, the Old English used to take up too much of the blasted quilt!
I was very disappointed when I was let down the other month with a 4 month old poodle - I'd mentally named him 'Jim' - it suited him!
I have rung all the poodle rescues you found for me - sadly none need rehoming, which is good news for the dogs.
I'm trying to locate local breeders now................!!
I will not impulse buy - the dog has to be right for me and vice versa! But appreciate your concern and advice.Genie

I do hope that home check goes well today. The lady is French and a professor and she seemed just so suited to that pom Sammi when I saw her
I can imagine her taking Sammi everywhere with her - she told me she did that with her last little chi. Sammi just seems French doesnt she ?

Guess there aren't any guarantees......
My boss has at long last given in and said I can have a dog and take it to work!! Yippee!!
I'm now looking for a pup, thats small, housetrained and vaccinated, so it has to be say around 4 months plus. I have certain allergies so have to avoid smooth coated dogs.
If you know of any in particular.....
I'm so happy - I have hated being dogless for the past few years, its like a nagging pain that won't go away.
Be careful of scammers, who offer to deliver the dog to you, but otherwise good luck:j :j :j :j
I'm surprised someone with allergies would not go for a smooth coated dog, I would have thought the long haired much worse
Any way I have heard that poodle don't moult are so are good for people with allergies.
As are Chinese Creasted Dogs:D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Crested_Dog

Spoke to a lovely lady in Brighton - she didn't have any. She said that its the big dogs that have homing problems or small terriers. She's not any to rehome in over 2 years. Same as chap in Kent. She recommend Hanna, who I spoke to at the beginning of the week, who only has a little nervous one at the moment that is not ready to be rehomed.
I've come across the name of a breeder - local to me. Only have the name, but think I may know her through work. Not sure. Can't find out any other details than her name. I've emailed via a link.
I have also found a boarding kennel, where they breed and rescue too - which is only about a mile away from me. But doesn't say on the site what they breed. Its called Dawes Heath boarding kennels. I've emailed them too.
I've been busy!! Am also in contact with a lady on Champoodles (Poodles in need) she sends me messages of support and other links etc. No poodle yet but we have found we like the same authors in books.!Genie
