It took me a very long time to get Diggs - he was well worth the wait.

Your boy or girl will turn up, believe me. But dont rush - as you appreciate it will be a very long commitment and you want the right dog.

Dont worry yourself about Lucy, someone right for her will come along. Im constantly amazed about the wonderful people who take on dogs with all sorts of disabilities and give them a happy life. Well, look at my Ralph, a puppy with only 2.5 feet, lol, but he found us.

I've had a lovely Mothers day.... been spoilt!

Went to have nose at local kennels. What a lovely place! They are a boarding kennels and cattery, near me in Rayleigh. They are called Dawes Heath Boarding kennels etc..... Had the most gorgeous Westie pups - if only I had the time!! One pup was sold whilst I was standing there chatting and my daughter in law to be was cuddling the other one...

They had a couple of miniatures there, but were their own dogs - they were great! Leaping about and very friendly.

I've left my phone number with them - but they were honest and said its rare to get a small dog for homing unless you want a Staff- loads of them about. How sad.

Kinda back to square one now... I have one more phone call to make tomorrow and I think that is it.

Only other alternative, which they suggested today at kennels, is when I take two weeks annual leave, could perhaps have a new pup then, and have two weeks to house train it for when i go back to work.

    Its an idea.

It may well need more than 2 weeks to be trained & also I don't think your boss would thank you lol you'd never get any work done! Wouldn't you consider a Staff? Mine has the personality you want, 100% trained she's not had a single accident, never barks, laid back & happy to snooze all day lol she's great!
  • I think getting a pup and having two weeks off is a risky strategy personally - you would probably need two weeks to get an adult dog settled, as even the best will often have the odd accident in a new home, but toilet training a pup can take months to be reliable, and even if the pup knows what to do, it will still need very frequent loo breaks.

Also, when it gets to the mad chew and destroy stage you may find yourself very stressed trying to manage this and avoid the wrath of your boss!!

Personally, I would be looking for a steady dog aged two plus, and would consider temprement above breed - there are loads of small dogs in rescues which would fit in with your lifestyle!

However, if you definitely want a poodle, I am sure one will come along sooner or later - did you see the thread by the lady looking for a golden retriever on here?

I work at a garage - very very busy. I am in the office, my domain, but folk in and out. But lots of space. Dog cage can be tucked away behind me and well away from thru walk ways. Nice friendly environment. Based on an industrial estate - but its a nice area, people in nearby unit have some Yorkies. We border on to fields so good for walks mid morning, lunchtime and mid afternoon etc.

My bosses said - small, not yappy..... their conditions!! But love them, its good of them to agree - I have been wearing them down gradually over the last few years!!

Crawling off to bed now - thanks for help guys and dolls :D

There's a toilet trained Poodle x but it's 14 weeks old so too young? It also has a home check pending so may be taken after that idk. You'll find something when you least expect it!
