THE STORE /EMPIRE STORES - URGENT READ THIS

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but this is urgent for any who has just received some digital cameras from the store....I realise that we dont want anymore threads re: empire/the store in this forum but can you leave the link here as alot of people only visit this forum....thanks..

I have received 5 cameras today which i thought were free...my email confirmation states that, the invoice states that....but they have decided to charge me 39.95 for EACH phone...that is COMPLETELY ILLEGAL....

They obviously havent dealt with me before...because I will crush this crappy organisation....with all the legal powers open to me...who the hell do they think they are!!!!!!!!!

My joy was short lived

invoice states all cameras are free and 2.95 postage is payable

however, i have checked with the store as i have been getting some dodgy transactions on my credit card company. I have now barred my stopped my credit card. Egg are also reporting a lot of complaints with the company and its sister company empire stores.

WHO THE HELL DO THE OWNERS OF THIS COMPANY THINK THEY ARE?

Anyway, the operator has stated that my card has been charge 199.95 plus 2.95 postage!!! The operator kept stating that was the price on the website...i said it was NOT when i ordered...she said the 0.00 was a system error.

Like hell they are!

I have given them 1 hour to get a manager to speak to me or I will be reporting them to Trading Standards and performing a chargeback...if they get a few chargebacks they lose Visa status usually temporarly

Everyone who has received phones....Check with you credit card company now!!

Added to this their sister company charged me full price for 2 delivered items...then said one item was out of stock and then confirmed deliver....no email to say, do you still want it.......terrible company

I am seething!

Hope they go bust!!

yeh would be GOOD evidence...i might have but if i do its on my new disk which i cant access as my RAID card has failed..should be ok in a couple of days when replacement installed

anyway...just been onto my cc company and disputed all transaction from empire stores and the store....like to see them get their money now....

if they want the goods back, ill invoice them a restocking fee, storage fee and for wasting my time.

I have over £400 worth of outstanding authorisations on my card at the moment, the only company I have used recently has been Empire Stores for that infamous sale, I have received nothing and even if I got everything it would not have been this amount.
I have spoken to my card company but they say they cannot tell who it is until the card is charged, so i must wait and see?

yeh my cc company phoned me yesterday to say that a transaction for 422 went through yesterday at 12:17...I am wondering if this was empire stores or the store when i was on my way dropping my son off at preschool....

I have stopped my cc for now...i have other cards....none of my transactions add up to this...

i ordered 21 items from empire stores totally about 800.....only 2 were delivered and 1 is apparently on its way...but the 30% was removed on all transactions, they the said they would refund the 30% a week ago which they havent

i ordered 10 camera as stocking fillers...so will get charged 400 ish...not b.... likely!

Incidentally if you do a google search...it brings up some interesting results realting to previous skirmishes these companies have had with the law....sounds like they havent learnt their lesson...they will by the time ive finished with them!!

I have received two confirmation emails, one to state that the item (camera) is being delivered, and the other to state that the are debiting me £2.95

They have debited my account £2.95 and that it is.....for the moment, but I will keep an eye on it. No outstanding items awaiting authorisation on my card - I know because I checked the the card company.

That's not really the point, they've acknowledged at one price and charged another, much higher, without authorisation or even consultation. Until they credit the credit card - and judging by their horrendous service this won't be prompt - the money is unavailable to spend elsewhere.

Wholly in breach of the Distance Selling Regulations.

Total charged 2.95

Will check with CC and ascertain that only £2.95 has been debited from card.

Footnote at bottom reads:

Please note: any reduction in price shown in "Amount charged" will be a reflection of any special discounts or price reductions you have been offered.

well theyve just rung back and checked with their legal dept (so the operator says) who have confirmed that they are free...obviously ::)

....strange though as i paid by credit card and theyve opened me an account.....not bothered as this will be a good deal if free..well 2.95 postage....but ill keep hold of them until its absolutely certain that they are free...so probably no good as xmas pressies!
