Extra Leg Room on Flight

otherwise i would expect to have the same quality and space around me prorata, as a 'normal size' person.
and we shouldnt have to put upwith what we get, or nothing would progress, and we would all probably be standing up on planes cramed in like the proverbial.
Please seat me with the gay men so I could have a damned good laugh on the flight...but with my raucous laugh, everybody on the plane would probably vote for me to be gagged.0 -
As a top heavy, heterosexual, single woman, where would you seat me?

Top heavy.
Id sit you next to me. I could do with something to play with other than the knackered IFE and my Ipod.0 -
you can sit next to me, (in between me and my partner) im a tall slim gay male, and obvioulsy would be in the posh end of the plane.
and if your on our flight too sturll (Cant do with some overtly Camp 6 stone wet lady boy 'accidentally' rubbing my leg during the flight.) neither of us are wet lady boy 6 stone types, and we certainly wouldnt be rubbing your leg!. hang on that came out wrong, we wouldnt be rubbing anything, not even your leg0 -
I think some of the posts in this thread illustrate the over the top 'rights' culture in the UK now. Everyone thinks they're entitled to something.
I'm 6ft4 so know all about the legroom problems, but if I want a cheap flight it's something I know I have to put up with. Flying on a budget airline, or even on a train or bus, is not comfortable for anyone. But you offset this against the cost.
If you really don't like it, then upgrade to first/business class, or charter you're own private jet. If you can't afford to, then tough. Traveling around the world is not a right, it's a privilege.
People need to be more thankful that they have the opportunity to travel at all as the majority of people in the world don't have this luxury.0 -
i dont think thats the issue. i just dont agree that people who can afford the seats, deserve it any more than those who need it.
ps i dont think flying with virgin is flying with a budget airline? ive never flown a budget airline, for the very reason were discussing! but a 9 hour atlantic flight should be little more comfortable than a 2 hour flight to the med, not because it costs more, but for health and safety .
and i dont think im entitled to it because i deserve it, but if its between a 6 foot 5 person and a average height family and the kids who decide to pay for it, then thats wrong,
the seats should be sold last when all needy people have been allocated, then sell whats left if any.0 -
I have always wondered what the practicalities are if airlines could provide a range of legrooms. Being short, legroom is not important for me, but I would happily accept reduced legroom for a reduction in my airfare!
For example, say a bog standard 32" pitch is £100, then 34" could be £125, 36" £150, but also 30" for £75 and 28" for £50. They could even apply this for extra wide or extra narrow seats.
There will be the same number of people on the plane so the airline will not be losing money.
First refusal on the larger pitch seats could be given to the tallest people, so therefore the airline would require all passengers height before travel.
I guess it would be an admin nightmare (tall late checkins, flights where everyone is tall or short, tall/short group mixtures etc etc).0 -
Completely agree. OH is 6'6" tall and often can't physically sit down in the seats without his knees digging into the seat in front. Then the person in front will decide they want to recline their seat
I'm 6'2 and on most flights (except where I manage to get the exit row - usually on Ryanair by running past everyone else across the tarmac) my legs are squashed up against the seat in front. Put simply... the person in front *does not* recline their seat. If they try, I push back hard and stop them. They eventually get the message.0 -
