The only thing I can think of is if they are been sent to prison in a different country to what they are in currently. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
I have a real problem with all this extra charging for sitting together and extra legroom etc. Perhaps if you want extra legroom and you've no good reason other than you just fancy it you shuold be charged, but having to pay just so you can sit together (when you would have done anyway unless you turn up really late to check in or the check in staff haven't been trained properly) is just not on if you ask me!
What is a 'good reason', and who decides this?
Everybody has the same class of ticket (although they may not have paid the same amount for it), so why should some passengers get preferential treatment over others?
If you think that everybody should be guaranteed seats with their party, then should single travellers be given a discount, as they are inevitably left with the cr*ppy odd seats that are left?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Because it's tough inside and they need a break..!
:rotfl:I am the General Manager of an hotel in Telford and am happy to offer advice. I can't promise to be perfect, but I'm happy to try to help.

Firstly I'm 6'7
so obviously I find it out of order now that airlines charge you extra for legrooms seats
this has only started in the last few years, bang out of order
in the past I have either informed the airline/travel operator prior to holiday departure 90% it was fine
now airlines and travel company's want to bleed every penny out of you :mad::mad::mad:
can't remember which company/airline however a few years ago we where going away on holiday and as usual we made the effort to get to the airport early (3 1/2 hours prior to departure) now bearing in mind I'm so tall and usually when I ask the check in desk staff realise and are accommodating towards me & the family
No not this time, Its £15.00 (for each of you, 3 in the party) so I said what happens if no one pays and the last people turn up to check in
well sir they just "GET THEM SEATS":mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
it later turned out a group of people, probably the last ones to check in, a few of them where in the seats buck she (free):mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
she obviously got a few stern words, but as it was a 4 hour flight I reluctantly paid the £15.00 for me and the 2 others sat behind me :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

Fat people are told to pay for two seats if they need them, and tall people should be told to pay for the seats with extra leg room, whether in an exit row or in business class.
unlike the fat people you mention, who most through lack of exercise, and bad diets, can help them selves. i dont want two seats cause im fat, i want one seat in can get my legs in. btw i have a 33 waist and am not fat and tall,0 -

If no one pays they just allocate them in the same way they used to.
I don't see how it can possibly be considered 'out of order'. As far as I'm concerned you pay for a seat on the plane. If you want an extra service you should pay extra for it; if you don't want the service you don't pay. Under the 'old' system those who didn't care subsidised benefits for people like you, whereas now those who want it are asked to pay for it. Perfectly fair and reasonable in my book.0 -

what a stupid comparison. i dont choose to be tall, and other than having my legs broken and a few inches removed theres not much i can do about it.

Not everybody is fat for self inflicted reasons. Should these people be allowed such concessions also?
You do not have a right to fly. An airline is a business, and as such they are out to make a profit. If you don't like this, then either you should find a charitable airline, or an alternative means of transport.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I'm 6'7" as well and have always had real problems on flights as a result. I was on a packed flight back from the USA a while back and by legs were crammed up hard against the seat infront. The guy in that seat then couldn't recline his seat because of me and then gave the cabin staff absolute hell about it and tried to get me moved, but there was no-where else to go. All through the trip he just kept trying to put his seat back to no avail until I warned him that is he didn't stop I was going to dangle my legs over his head rest onto his head!!! He soon got the message.
In terms of the problems faced with being tall - Mr Average has got a lot to answer for when I get hold of him .....................0 -

Overnight flights from the US are annoying and cramped for everyone, not just those of 'abnormal size'. The thing is, most of us know that the solution is to pay for an upgrade to business/first class, and if we choose not to we just put up with what we've got.0
