While we're talking sleeping babies, can I ask what the experienced mums think of swaddling blankets? I've seen some with velcro so you get them fastened in the right place.. Any experiences? What do you think? :) Thanks!
I tried doing it with a blanket with chris but failed misserably :o so I'm getting a easiy one this time :D
I have a few different ones that are going on eBay sometime soon! :rotfl:

One MW at antenatal class told us not to swaddle as baby can overheat and another told us it can soothe baby!. And apparently babies either love it or hate it but tbh I've never tried.
    xx
They can overheat just they can in anything. use a thin blanket and appropriate clothes underneath

I am counting down the days to my 8 weeks scan (24th March - which seems to be coming at the slowest pace ever) and was wondering what I should expect? Also what questions should I be asking - I have absolutely no idea.
    Thanks

Hello, I had a dating scan at 8 weeks then nothing till 20 weeks.
I cannot for the life of me work out how to upload the picture... pregnancy brain... but it is on the MSE pregancy forum that Sami set up on Facebook. :D

EDIT: I have changed my Avatar to show my 8 week scan picture....it looks like a black and white photo of a jelly baby! :D
    DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz
    DD1 arrived 20/05/09 10lb3oz

Re the bounty pack - here you don't get it till your 12 week scan at the hospital so don't be surprised if you don't get it from your Midwife :)
8 week booking in thingy is as mentioned mainly weighing you, asking your loads of medical history and family's medical history and that of partners family questions. Then they steal some red stuff and check your urine sample and more than likely that's it... I found it a huge let down but then my midwife has the personality of a door and frankly I'd love to avoid having to see her again at all - sadly I don't have a choice round here as despite being at just about the biggest surgery there is ONE MW and she's in 2 days a week - that's it...

Oh I see what you're saying AM, thanks, the dating scans are more accurate than dates of your cycle. Yes, I think you're right. ;)

I'm never sure about them completely tho, cos they're based on head circumference being bang on the 100th centile, aren't they. I don't know, it just seems to me to be a daft way to measure it!

Mrs Moc, Hugs to you in abundance, how very scary, hope all goes well at the hospital, I know you'll be in safe hands there.

Anyone know where sami is? Haven't seen her post for a bit? Hope you're ok sami :D
I agree on scans - Chris's scan date was over 2weeks out. he was 15 days overdue but according to scan he was 3days early :p he was tall n skinny so not sure it that's wat made scan inaccurate  (his weight was on 25th p'tile height 95th!!! :rotfl:)
Sami's staying at her Mum's and off to toddler group this morning... Sure she'll be around a bit later...

I'd love this baby 10 days early... But I have a real feeling it's going to be 7/8days late... Don't know why...
ur right here I am can't type fast coz chris is asleep on me!

I was wondering where Sami was! Normally her's is every other post!! Hope she is fine too XX
    Ihope that isn't a complaint :p
Aimee's certificate doesn't have father unknown on it... Just a blank space where his details should go...
I always wondered what happened with unmarried parents when mum/dad didn't want dad to have parental rights, I think it's important from child POV that their father is on there just in case they want to track them later and mum may have died or somthing...
Is there a way of naming the father without giving him rights (and not having to faff with some kind of legal agreement?) if there isn't I think there should be!

Chris now awake, poor thing was exhusted we left toddlers early because he just kept saying "go home now" :A
all stoopid MIL's fault  We went for tea last night but she didn't tell us she was planning to go to church (6-7pm) so Chris had been up since 8am walked my mum n dad's dogs then spent the day at MIL's, walked their dogs too and then she seamed a bit peturbed when I got up as soon as I'd finished my tea and put my shoes on! It was just after 8pm when we left and I had to drop OH home as Chris n I can't stay there until we've got it all clean so he got to bed at around 9pm absolutely cream crakered!
I don't understand how someone can have 2 children but be so clueless about looking after kids! (well actually I know that FIL did all the mothering AND fathering she just gave them both insecurities and stress!)

It wasn't a case of not letting him have parental responsibility... By the time Aimee was born I didn't even know whereabouts in the country he was so couldn't invite him to be on her certificate... All his details and his last known address are written in the back of her baby book so if she ever wants to try tracking him down she can try... At the end of the day it's up to the mother to let the child have the information... I don't see how you could enforce that apart from the birth certificate....
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

elle i dont use the swaddling cloth things? i just use a sheet or blanket to wrap baby up nice and tight, i also only do it at nighttime so baby knows difference between naps and bedtime. it seems to work as she sleeps 10-4.30 and has done since day 1!

however the little monster is currently asleep in my arms after having a screaming fit as she doesnt want to be put down(spoilt rotten i think)
