8 week scan???? Count yourself lucky I think :) round here it's 12 week scan and 20 week scan as standard... at 8 weeks (working on the 6 week emergency one I had) you won't see much to be honest I would have thought... I didn't think they could do the measurements etc they needed to at the 12 week one that early?

MM glad your ok and you must have got a big fright *hugs* now get those feet up and rest everything else can wait u and the baby are the most important right now!

as for registering baby, here we get given a card with a number place of birth etc and that has to be taken along with parents birth certificates and marriage cert (if married). if any of these arent available you will have a prob to register baby?

Sorry I don't think its a scan - just wishful thinking?! (Pregnancy confusion maybe........)

It is my first appointment with the midwife which they say takes about an hour and a half? Just wanting to know what to expect.
Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early) :D
  • At my first MW appointment she just took mine and hubbys details, family medical history, took bloods and booked my 12 week scan. HTH
  • Booking in is usually blood tests and a whole raft of a thousand questions. She will give you a bounty pack with tons of info in it and also a form for free prescriptions. Usually they sort you out with a date for a 12 week scan too. It's exciting!!

Sorry for TMI ladies but my poo smells medicinal! I am taking iron so poo has been black for a while but at the moment it is smelly but it smells like hospitals! Anyone else had this??

shelvis - I'm taking iron but haven't noticed this at all. But I'm taking it in liquid form, maybe that makes a difference?

    Mel - Congratulations!!!

MrsMOC - so glad everything is okay. I had low-lying placenta when pregnant with DS2, but it moved up by scan at 32wks.

Karen- the first appointment i had with midwife, was a general how are you feeling, are you/have you been taking folic acid, any health problems they need to be aware of etc.. then given a green book (all my pg notes) to fill in some bits and to take to all my appointments. took my blood pressure as well and made my appointment for 1 st scan (tomorrow!!). this one in my area is all the blood tests, talk through all screening tests and have scan!!
