3OIW If you really want to spoil her then whip your top off and have a bit of skin to skin... It's even better than a cuddle with your clothes on! (Plus its great for regulating their temperature!)

Dr Nils Bergman has done studies on something called Kangaroo Mother care... I heard him talk at a conference once and he was inspiring!
*butts in teacher's pet stylee* I know it sounds a bit hippy but I'm planning on having "nudey time" every afternoon in the first 2weeks while OH is on paternity - no that's not me getting back to normal so quick  but all 4 of us having skin to skin :D
Chris loves being nudey and I have to say it is the nicest thing to have a skin2skin cuddle with both OH and chris, we love group hugs!

I'll go back to being non hippy now :D

I don't know if you ladies remember, but I was asking about "high" chairs for babies and the only one I found was only available in the USA. Well I have at last found one suitable that is widely available:

It costs quite a bit more than we budgeted, however it can be used up to 3 years, so will probably save money in the long run. :j

Molly I have a chicco polly seventy high chair (pretty much the same as that one but no arch. I can't help thinking you're paying over the odds as I got mine brand new in box (RRP £129) on ebay for £75 and I'm sure you could attach your own arch/mobile maybe one like this that I have for Chris's pram

Ps. I know its a more subjective thing but I haven't used Chris's high chair for almost a year now, I personally don't recomend buying expensive highchairs.

The Chicco polly seventy is only suitable from 6 months though, I need something suitable from birth.

I am not going to buy it yet, but Kiddicare have the best price at the mo (And Next sell it as well, so I might be able to get some generous staff discount courtesy of my sister ;) )

I missed your post about highchairs molly, and can't find it doing a quick search back. You post too much clearly!

What were you looking for specifically in a highchair? We had one for DS1 which looked very similar to the one you've linked to, but was by Graco I think. It was a total nightmare! It was huge (took up as much space as two ordinary chairs in the kitchen), very difficult to clean (bits of food forever falling in nooks and crannies), took up a lot of space even when folded so was never out of the way, and looked quite plasticy and childlike which is fine when you first have a baby but not quite what you want as an interior design statement 3 years on!

For DD we had a cheap wooden thing from IKEA which did the job OK but fell into matchsticks when she was about 10 months! We also had (which were fab), these great folding high chairs which you strapped to a normal kitchen chair to give you the correct height, but which had there own integral table. These were easy to clean, folded up to A3 size and were light weight so great for taking with us when visiting friends or relatives, and not that expensive.

This is the link to something similar to what we had http://www.babycarecentres.co.uk/safety-1st-portable-booster-seat-id6859.html

This time round as we already have a Tripp Trapp chair, due to me having back problems a while ago, we are just going to get the baby set and convert that into a highchair. (http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_79424_10001?cm_sp=category_page-_-advert_cs-_-promo_category_product) That will be good as baby can eat round the table with the rest of the family. We might also buy one of the folding ones to keep in the car for when we go visiting.

    Hi Nicki,

What I was looking for was a higher than normal chair for the baby to sit in - either Bouncer, swing or high chair that will be suitable from birth.

I have had both hips replaced so cannot bend to the floor easily to pick up heavy things (And if bubs is anything like mummy and daddy they will be HEAVY!:D ). So I am looking for something that can sit by my chair and I can see to bubs without bending about too much.
I don't mind what it looks like too much, however DH might have reservations if it looks to "plasticy". And as for space, we don't have much furniture and our kitchen is very big, so that shouldn't be an issue for us.

ah didn't think about that MTW - I bet there aren't many highchairs suitable from birth  (Although I can't see what makes that one any different in terms of back support and lying flat to the normal polly)
Did I bring up the Mamas and papas pram set last time we talked about this?

its a quite big set but it comes with a stand that the moses basket type bit, carseat and pram seat unit fit on I can't get the pic here but this should link to it in the way I'm talking of http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-ultima-8-in-1-mpx-chassis-balmain/259793200/type-i/view/zoom/
if not full info is on here http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-ultima-8-in-1-mpx-chassis-balmain/259793200/type-i/
only prob is it doesn't say on the site if the pram part is suitable from birth just that the whole package is so you'd need to ask M&P
