3onitsway - well, DD's 22 now but she's been good about it most of the time. She started getting things piling up at about age 7 or 8. I will admit a passing comment from me about how much spiders liked clothing piles fixed that problem pretty quick!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

3onitsway - your story made me giggle a bit, your poor MIL, she was obviously as uncomfortable as you about the whole situation..
Dh hasn't given up alcohol, he didn't for the last two either. But I suppose seeing that we both barely drink anyway, I suppose it wouldn't really make a difference. Since I have been pregnant, we have both had a drink for our birthdays basically a bottle of wine between us on each occasion. He has had a pack of 4 cans on 2 different occasions and that is it in the whole prgnancy!! We both grew up in households with an alcoholic parent, so aren't really big drinkers.
Re. the raise in maternity pay, I think it may have an initial impact if it goes ahead, but over the years it would probably level out again.

Where have people found the best places or catalogues to find nursery furniture, curtains etc or prams??? Or anything we're all going to needVery proud mummy to be, after years of IVF
:j TWINS DUE 7th August 2009 :j0 -
dooleys - i'd recommend kiddicare - thats were we got our pram (after testing it out for real in a real shop!).
Mel - It was very awkward - but me and OH hadn't discussed who/when we'd tell, so because i'd phoned my mum (to come and look after the other two), he thought he should phone his!!
Triggles - I might try the spider comment - thats one thing she's scared of!:beer:0 -
I am waiting for the landlord to come as he is fitting new radiators, but I am bl00dy knackered and could really do with going to bed. For some reason I woke up at 3.50 this morning and could not get back to sleep at all!!! Not even a little snooze.
I am also in a fair bit of discomfort sitting round, I have tidied up and done the ironing (on my new board that came yesterday) and these pains are annoying because I know it's not labour, just niggles.
I bet the minute I go and lie down he will flaming well turn up:mad:

dooleys, we got a few bits from Kiddicare. I would def recommend them, quick service:)
3onitsway - I have made it clear (to dh) we aren't telling anyone, unless of course we have to be transferred to hospital. But even then it will only be the people who need to know as they will have to come look after the boys!
right gonna go try and lie down

My mum always used to say god help me when I have my own place...well I had my own flat at 15 and kept that fairly tidy too:) Dh does have OCD, but is much better now he is on medication for it. He could barely bring himself to turn on a light switch without having to wash his hands afterwards, his poor hands were so chapped and red all the time from the constant washing:eek:. And things had to be in certain places, if they got moved he would freak out big time...Maybe that's why I became tidier, so he would be a bit calmer
Mel xbut I'd rather he made the effort or as I'd much prefer learn to do it 'my' way *sigh* its not like I do things in silly way or repeat over and over I just have a set way. With Chris's bottles I had to wash them all and then rinse each bit as I put it in the steriliser but OH would wash them and rinse as he went - drove me up the wall:mad:

Tidying, ironing, restless, niggles - Thats exactly how I started!!
OOh - we may be getting two Friday 13th babies!!:beer:0 -
Mel - its nothing, your baby won't be here for at least 3 days
(just thought I'd balance the view just in case
)
Dooley's I had to go check and this is what ickle said about finishing workHopefully I can start to pay you guys come more attention now I have finished work!
Finished on Friday just as I am reaching 29 weeks with twins. I am basically redundant but...this is good news!!! Been at the company 7 years in April, hubby been there 12 years and I always wanted to return to work at least on a part time basis. But, things have changed since we found out we are having twins. Although am on a good wage, even part time child care x 2 would wipe out the cost of any wage I earnt.
I was wanting to finish end of March (am due 13th May) but the more time goes on the more I realise I am not physically able despite having a very good pregnancy so far and still trying to rush here, there and everywhere, do up our house etc. The company have been really good and kept me on past the 15th week before babies are due so that they could pay me my maternity pay, plus have received a pretty damn good pay out. :T
Friday was my last night and received floawers, amazon and beauty vouchers and some choccies plus some lovely greetings.
So am now a jobless bum...and so far loving it! :rotfl::rotfl:
And I am 30 in 6 days time!!!! :rotfl:0 -

I've learned over the years that when DH does stuff like that, I just leave the room and enjoy that he's taking care of it. He folds towels differently, and always has, and does lots of little things differently. But I decided ages ago that I am just going to enjoy that they're done and not worry if it's done a bit differently. Or I'd drive myself crazy. :rotfl:Tidying, ironing, restless, niggles - Thats exactly how I started!!
Sorry, but if I started ironing, DH would know something was up - not necessarily labour though - maybe my mind snapped or something! :rotfl:
dooleys - we have used Kiddicare and ToysRUs/BabiesRUs for various baby items/equipment. We bought a moses basket at Mothercare for this little one and we like that as well. I have a tendency to find what I like, then go to each site and compare the price/shipping totals and go from there.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0
