Don't go getting :( about something that "might" happen :)
I swore that there was no way on earth I would still be in this house for #2 and guess what I'm still here!
I am not sure how I feel about HB but after having Chris I am much more comfortable about the idea, not sure if that is because I have given birth or because I have given birth and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had imagined :rotfl:
If you manage to pop roo out in a manner similar to me with Chris you may feel that the distance from hosp doesn't matter, but you won't know until roo is here, plus you may have moved house (possibly one of the tick list of requirements for new house will be near the maternity ward :D)

I seriously HOPE we'll have moved before we start thinking about a second one! This house would NOT be big enough for 2 kids! In fact by the time Roo is big enough to walk properly I'd love to have been able to move! But that might be a smidgen optimistic :)

However a hospital not MILES away is on my little internal tick list for new house ;) Having had DH rushed to hospital couple of years ago now I know exactly how long it takes (and he was transported in a rapid response vehicle and not a standard ambulance so it's a lot faster than normal ambulances) and it's not a time frame I feel happy with I have to say... If they start shutting even more hospitals down I think we're going to see some huge problems starting :(

I finished 3 weeks before due date with no 1, less than a week before with no 2 (39 +2, if I remember correctly) and a month before with no 3 (but that's cos it was in teh run up to Xmas and we had just moved house and had lots of boxes still and I couldn't see any way of getting it all done unless I finished then!)
    where have you been hiding?
How was your birthday, do anything nice?

Ok.. I'm really sad... Here is a map (identifying parts removed I think lol) of where I am in relation to the hospital... According to Google it is
1.5 mi – about 6 mins away by car... And when not pregnant can be walked in about 25 mins... In fact my sister walked a similar distance when in labour with my neice...

4.4 miles from the hospital here. 15 minutes in good traffic, 25 minutes during busy times. No idea about ambulance times, can't imagine it'd be much less than 10 to 15 minutes, the road is not designed for that much traffic and I'm amazed how it doesn't cause problems more often.

I doubt I'll be having any more babies in this area, need to lose weight before I get pregnant again!

15 minutes and that was with blues and twos and at night... it's over 15 miles away and all the various sites think it'll take 31 minutes....
That's for the Horton which is tecnically closest...
The JR is 18 miles away and it thinks it'll take 27 minutes there - unfortunately the roads there are usually down to one lane and it's crossing the M40... so my bet is it'll take more than 27 minutes normally by car and probably more than 15 minutes on blue lights :(

    For me:3.4 mi – about 10 mins :T
and the ambulance station is less than a mile away so for them to get to me would take about 3 mins provided its not rush hour:D

I guess my only saving grace MIGHT be that IF anything happens we'd get one heck of a priority when it comes to getting the nearest Ambulance ;) Roo's godmother to be works in the ambulance dispatch covering our area and even if she's not on shift everyone knows it's her god daughter so there would be no questioning about getting the nearest unit here and as quick as it's little wheels can turn lol

sorry still working through that article from earlier :o
but a professional admitting fear of being sued affects the advice they give :(
Should her patient be adamant that she wants a caesarean, however, Cardozo admits that unlike in the past, she wouldn't "try too hard to dissuade her". Mainly because "of the litigious nature of the speciality I work in," she says - perhaps revealing one of the reasons why caesarean rates have doubled in the past two decades.
