I guess my only saving grace MIGHT be that IF anything happens we'd get one heck of a priority when it comes to getting the nearest Ambulance ;) Roo's godmother to be works in the ambulance dispatch covering our area and even if she's not on shift everyone knows it's her god daughter so there would be no questioning about getting the nearest unit here and as quick as it's little wheels can turn lol
for me the fact that the ambulance is so close is more comforting than how close the hosp is because once a paramedic arrives I'll feel safe

Bearing in mind that they would have notified the ambulance team, and would also call ahead to the hospital if you were to be taken in...It could be fine:)

I am close to my hospital, about 10 mins by car half that with flashing lights:)

Tine put me off ever needing an ambulance! I'm so fat they'd have to get a crane to lift me, ambulance men can't get me on a stretcher :(

I won't - but then I know that paramedics spend only a few days on the maternity ward as part of their training and many of them are only present at ONE delivery. They may never see a birth "on the road" as it were...
And the closeness of the station doesn't mean anything I'm afraid :( if there has been an incident somewhere then there is every chance they will be out on cover - so sitting in a layby halfway between their base and any base that might be out attending an incident. Always work on the possibility that the ambulance is 10 minutes away no matter how close the station is...

    Awww hun I hope not!
I am just practical and know more about the frontline side of things thanks to nearly marrying a paramedic and basically being there with him from his first application and saw him through all his training... not to mention day to day life...
I just work on the worst case scenario... you COULD get an all female crew - and whilst I think women can do as good a job as men then chances are they just cannot lift as much... and there is health and safety rules they have to adhere to too :( If someone is "too heavy" they need to call back up - and often that means firebrigade :(
In fact my ex messed up his knee lifting someone too heavy on ground that was slippery and ended up with several operations and MONTHS of recovery time before he was allowed back on frontline duty...

If you need an ambulance then you call it! :A
