I didn't want to phone as I thought I might not get the discount but, if you reckon it's OK I'll give it a go tomorrow.
The people at Orchid are what you wish all companies would be like!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Well, they may be wonderful warm human beings but they are certainly giving me a hard time

The phones were delivered promptly enough and I charged them up for the recommended 16 hours. That done, I thought "Hey, let's get these babies programmed up and saving me some money :j".

What's this? Right near the bottom of the instruction leaflet. I have to register the unit before I can use the programming tool? By email, not via the web?

Now, of course, there's nobody there on a Saturday to respond to my email. I'm sure they will get straight on the job on Monday morning but by then I shall be many miles from here, doing my day job which takes me away from hearth and home for the whole week

So, at the moment I have a bank of fully charged DECT phones which are about as useful as a Tracy Emin installation, a phone bill larger than the GDP of some small African nations, and the OH complaining "I don't know why you had to buy more phones - haven't we got enough?".

I shall have a go at programming them via the keypad. Good job I hadn't planned anything else for the weekend.

I've also used up my smilie allowance for the week.

Oh no, Ive got a few left ...
  • They provide a FREE programming service for the first time. Call them, let them know what you want, and they'll program them remotely. Then all you'll need to do is get the phones to pick up the new programming.

The 'register' that you mentioned is to enable the software (downloadable from their website), as it needs to know which phones are yours. (PS read the instructions carefully, as some of the default settings of the software will need changing).

It's a new week for me, so new smilie allowance :p:D  :j :j

Heinz I have to agree with you there, I had reason to contact them last week and found their customer service to be fantastic. After all the problems I've had with a certain call center these past few months it was a breath of fresh air to be treated in such a pleasant and efficient manner. They certainly deserve a recommendation.

Trying to access the CW Client but after I have entered my username and password and clicked OK I get the following message:

    Login failed.
Database query error; string or binary
    Data would be truncated.
    OK

    Does anyone know why?
