  • I already have an account with 18185 for calls during the day. So how do I use them after 6pm?

I think my Orchid dialler box is in serious need of updating!!

I want to update my dialler box myself (I see it as a challenge that I want to be able to say I did myself - as it looks really complicated) but just keep putting it off.

Is it quite easy to dupdate seeing as how it was already programmed by Orchid for me?

    No different - dial a 18185 prefix.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Please forgive me Heinz but what would that pefix be? All I do through the day is dial my numbers and the box takes care of who I connect to.

Hope I don't appear thick but I honestly don't know what you mean.:o

Sorry, I didn't notice you said you already use an Orchid LCR.

It depends really on how your Orchid is currently programmed but the easiest way for this one-off 0870 call is to bypass the box by dialling the 121 bypass code first.

    So, to make a call to 0870 123 4567, you'd dial 121 18185 0870 123 4567.

  • Oh, must go and have a lie down - just realised that all I need to do is dial 18185 then the number.

Orchid's is the most God-awful website I have ever come across.

It's taken most of my lunch hour to register and try to buy a set of phones.

No discount offered at checkout. Guess I should have entered the discount code on registering but it's not exactly obvious to do that, before you have even bought anything, and there is no opportunity once you are registered.

I shall try and register again under a different name, but if that doesn't work they can take a running jump.

Or 3 minutes on the phone (a geographical number too).

If you're having problems with the website, call them.

I couldn't find the Ranger triple set to order, so I called them and they took my order including the discount over the phone. I found them to be very helpful people.

I was looking for the same thing and I couldn't find them either.

I eventually found them - they are under "DECT Phones" - but by then I had cocked up registering for discount.

I didn't want to phone as I thought I might not get the discount but, if you reckon it's OK I'll give it a go tomorrow.

    Thanks.
