If you followed this poor (though no doubt well intentioned) advice, and re set your dialler last night (Saturday), then you will need to do it again, now that the clocks have really changed!
The manual method of doing so is HERE (change the date and time to the current date and time).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If you see this thread on SayNo it shows the cheap method available for those unfortunate enough to be with cable. There is also phone.coop who you could use for evening calls. They charge just 4.7p per call (providing call is under 60mins but just disconnect & redial again). I haven't got around to updating that thread but I hope to this week where I'll mention phone.coop

Thanks for the reply. Looks like we will have to get rid of the phonepal that OneTel supplied then. Really need to consider changing back to a BT line, as then you have so many more options than on cable.

Great service from Orchid - e-mail sent yesterday informing them how I would like them to programme my V4, received a reply today, saying that it had been done!! :T

Superb service. Just need to connect it all up now.

:o  word of warning, I appear to have inadvertantly ticked the 'callback' button on one of my routing tables a few weeks back and it was active for a couple of weeks, got a bill through yesterday with £10 worth of calls to the Orchid caller, 10 calls a day for 2 weeks, all only lasting 14 seconds but with a 5p connection or something. Doh....luckily I switched to another table at that point so should be OK now and it hasn't called back since.
  • Can you use the Orchid Dialler when you have to ring an 08444 number and pause for a recorded message before entering the destination number?
  • Please ignore my query above as I have just discovered from their website that it can be done.

As you've found out, it can be done, but as I found out, there is a limit on the number of characters (numbers and pauses) you can put into a dial-number.

I wanted to do 121 (revert to BT so that I get a call for my free caller ID) then a pause then an 0844 number then an international number.

Unfortunately, this was so long that it only had space for one pause character, and I really needed a couple more.

If you don't use 121 at the start, then there is plenty of pause time allowed.

    I'm not exactly following you.

Do you have CPS on your phone line? If so, you'd need to do 1280, not 121. Then setting an international/mobile call would need a long number you mentioned (with only the space for one #, but it'd be in the form 12800844...). I don't think 121 or 1280 prefixes need to have a pause after them.

If you're just doing it to fulfil BT's caller ID requirements I'd personally not set it in the router, but have it route 0844 calls to BT and just dial a couple each month manually getting a number from callchecker.

True, but you do need a couple (at least) of pauses after dialling the eleven digits of the 0844 gateway number before you dial the 'target' number.
