In your post #624 all you need to do is change CPS from JDS to Primus Saver Option 2 (that's what I've just done) and you'll have a pretty good all round deal.

Right, I have applied for a Primus Saver Option 2 account and now should I cancel my current CPS - Just Dial - straight away or should I wait a bit as Primus said it would take up to two weeks to get onto their system. What I don't want is to be cancelled from Just Dial but not with Primus (therefore back to BT). What's the best way to do it?

Lots of people on here have been transferred straight from their provider to Primus. However I haven't been & will have a three week period apart. I thought it was because I informed OneTel we wanted to cancel but apparently it is up to BT and if they want to put the legal side in process:mad: . Some areas happily transfer you from one to another and others, like me, are made to wait the legal 2 weeks for the notification and then another week to ensure there aren't problems. For this interim period we are signed up to call1899. So you may be fortunate and not have any problems.

You do not need to contact your existing provider at all. Primus will arrange this and give them notice. You should receive a letter from both Primus and your existing supplier. I say should as that is what they are meant to do but you may not get a letter from your existing supplier, JustDial.

This two weeks (minimum) is unfortunately annoying but it is due to the cooling off period and this time limit is what Ofcom have said. Sometimes it can take a little longer and I guess its to do with Primus being really busy or BT who I believe do all the swapping around.

So why did Primus say I should contact them then?

I've got no idea except maybe lack of training on their behalf. I and many others I know have never had to contact our existing supplier. I recently moved from OneTel to Primus and at no time did I contact OneTel - just Primus. We received a letter from both Primus and OneTel confirming the date of switchover (OneTel's letter was also a "sorry to lose you" letter).

    Hi

I am interested in buying the Orchid Dialler and aware of the link on the first page of this thread. My question - is there only one of these? which one do i go for? Also should I call them and ask for it be pre-programmed?

    Many thanks

My belief is that if you intend to use more than one service provider for your phone calls (i.e. certain times of day/week for certain providers) then you should go for the V4 as this model has a clock inside it.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Once you recieve it just give them a call or better still send them an email with your requirements and they;ll do it all for you. Then all you have to do is dial a specific code to set it up and you'll be on your way.

Ok thanks for that, off to check with the website now.
  • I'm just changing from Telewest to BT next week and have ordered an orchid v4 dialler. Does anyone know how soon I can apply for the Primus account ? Does BT have a minimum period before I can apply ?

Sorry for different line of questioning... does anyone know if the Orchid dialler interferes with ADSL? I presume not but my husband doesn't trust anything new and is using this as an excuse to not switch! Also he says we will continue to pay BT as well as Primus, as we are on monthly direct debit - is this true or when Primus tells BT we've switched will BT then stop the dd?
