Is my best option to just use Primus for free evening and weekend calls and stick to the other options I stated in an earlier posting for daytime calls?0 -
@snape
Yes.
In your post #624 all you need to do is change CPS from JDS to Primus Saver Option 2 (that's what I've just done) and you'll have a pretty good all round deal.
You may wish to consider routing all mobile calls 24/7 through Phonecheap as they've very recently come in at 2p per min anytime.

Nicholas wrote:I disagree. Even if you are on Primus 3 for which all local and national calls are free you may still need some adjustments.
What about mobile numbers and 0870 numbers for which no alternatives are available? Okay, granted that if you are already using 18185 no changes may be necessary for the moment, but things could quickly change and you may need to reprogram your dialler for an even cheaper or next cheapest alternative at some time.
Which is why I said you MAY not need to make any changes. I didn't have to make any changes just because I chose Primus. It simply meant that my evening & weekend calls went through Primus instead of BT.
I have since made quite a few changes and I agree that the best way of doing it is to become familiar with CWClient. This is certainly made easier with a routing table already there which just needs amending.0 -

You may still wish to consider a minor change. BT peak begins at 06:00 but Primus peak does not begin until 08:00. IF you make any early morning weekday calls you could be losing out.0 -

£8.49 = 283 calls at 3p each using 1899 so, if you make more than that number of weekday daytime calls each month, every month, going for Option 3 instead of Option 2 would be worthwhile.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Yes I agree but strangely enough when I first got my dialler and was on BT, I noticed that weekday calls were still set for 08:00. Orchid had not changed that when they set up my routing table for me. This was one of the first changes I made.0 -

See this thread.
You can prefix the number manually or you can set it up in the Orchid from the routing table carrier list (the number with 5 pauses on the end works well).
