So, do I still change from Just Dial to Primus?0
-
I received my Orchid Dialler today (V4+) from an online purchase and the 20% discount is deducted from your order using the promotional code "3" (without the inverted commas).
Firstly you need to register your details and then when you shop at some stage you will be presented with a box to enter the code.
I cut and pasted into an email the relevant details from Heinz's post and the dialler was set up for me free of charge. When you receive it you just plug it in dial a number which you will receive via your welcome email and wait for three minutes then it should be up and running.
I've just done that with mine now and so far have tried telephoning a land line and mobile with success only I am not receiving the appropriate voice message (zero p per minute etc)despite having this facility switched on. Is this normal?
Any one know a quick way of checking if the call routing is working correctly?
Also can anyone recommend the best way of keeping up to date with the optimal way to configure the dialler without having to visit MSE daily?

When I dial a number I hear the dialler routing the call as it makes a series of tone beeps - do you hear this?
Also if you're using call1899 or similar you should be able to check your online account as calls usually show up very quickly after dialling.0 -
I am with 1899 18185 and 18866, I hear quite a few beeps without any breaks but there does n't sound enough to be dialling a prefix.
I thought calls took quite along time to register with the pre-fix services, I'll take your advice and have alook now, thanks.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

As your linerental is with BT then you weren't on any minimum term contract with OneTel.
We were with OneTel and I just asked Primus to swap us over and just over 2 weeks later we were on Primus.
I think then OneTel are being funny and didn't want to lose you as a customer but they can't actually stop you from moving whatsoever. You say OneTel are releasing you - releasing you to whom? BT or Primus? It will take at least 2/3 weeks to transfer your calls to Primus regardless of what Primus/OneTel may say.
I'd ask your OH to ring OneTel and ask for an explanation as to why they refused initially to allow Primus to take over your calls saying that you have spoken with Ofcom and BT over this and they both confirmed you could move, and what exactly do they mean by releasing you and releasing you to which company?0 -
Thanks to Heinz & Quentin and all other knowledgable MSEers. I have now ordered 2 V4 + Diallers which they are pre-programing for me at no extra cost and got 20% discount. Very helpful.
Now all I need to do is decide which CPS provider to go for - I shall watch and learn.
Thanks again - Anna10 -

You 'll need to reprogram your dialler once you know which CPS service you're going with. Usually best to have decided this first. It costs £2 for Orchid Electronics to do it or nothing and less than 5 minutes of your time if you decide to do it yourself.
To do it yourself you'll need to download and install their CW client on your computer and the user guide to learn how to make the adjustments. A little investment in time here means you'll be able to minimise your phone bills without cost for eternity or until your dialler wears out. ;-){Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

You may not need to make any changes at all. I was with BT when I first got my dialler. Then I changed to use Primus as my CPS. No changes were necessary.0 -

I disagree. Even if you are on Primus 3 for which all local and national calls are free you may still need some adjustments.
What about mobile numbers and 0870 numbers for which no alternatives are available? Okay, granted that if you are already using 18185 no changes may be necessary for the moment, but things could quickly change and you may need to reprogram your dialler for an even cheaper or next cheapest alternative at some time.0 -
Whats the difference between Primus option 2 and 3?0
