Thanks for pointing out https://www.niftylist.co.uk0

Point taken. I will update my specification to block 00 (International calls) and if I need to make such a call, I would look it up first and then dial manually using dialler override.0

On a Telewest line, the two main providers I know of are 1899 and 18866. For landlines the charges are 3p connection and 0ppm for 1899 and 2p connection and 0.5ppm for 18866.
Notwithstanding their availability and quality, could I set up the Orchid dialler to allow me to say this is a short call of less than a minute, and use the 18866 service.
The difference in charges is not big, but it's the principle...
... now that is what I call squeezing the pips!

p.s. Are there other providers for Telewest lines I should be looking at?0 -

I am not the only one who started thinking that; but I stayed on 1899. I calculated that most calls are a little over 1 minute (or you would text!) so cheaper with 18990 -
Hi
As per my recent posting, I stopped Talk Unlimited today, and decided to run on manual for a few days, hence notes by each phone with the instructions.
Can any current Telewest line user please confirm that the 1899 access number, starting 0808... is a freephone number, as searching the forum seems to indicate that it was charged at one time, but may not be now, and I don't really want to wait weeks for my next bill, and there's no way to see it online before then.
TIA

not been charged for it at all
Remember to allow direct landline calls on a weekend, they are free on telewest.0 -
You may have seen the thread on the new http://www.18185.co.uk/index2.php service [edited to show correct link!]...evidently a sister company to 18866 and 1899. I have just signed up with no problems. For those of us with Orchid diallers the 18185 service is already on the "Carrier" drop down list in Cwclient. Although the connection charge is 4p, 18185 is cheaper for 0870 calls (4p/min), w/end calls to mobiles (2p/min) and UAE landlines 10p/min (previously 1899 was cheaper at 12p/min)...there are probably others....0
