    Hi,

I have just received the Orchid Dialler and I am trying to connect to the server but I get stuck on the box saying "Retreiving server details" and just stays there and nothing happens. I have configured Norton and still is doing the same.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Seems to be that the server is off line most days, its just a matter of keep trying every day & if you are lucky enough to be able to access the server then program your Orchid dialler whilst you can...

Hi ,I am on Talk Talk free evening and weekend calls with free calls to other Talk Talk customers . When the free evening & weekend calls end would I be able to program an orchid dialer to still get free calls to other talk talk customers ?

Not really as the dialler wouldn't know whether the person you are calling is on TalkTalk as well.

The only way around that would be to move to TalkTalk 1 (free weekend calls) when your offer ends and use Call18866 for your daytime and evening calls.

For those calls that you make to other TalkTalk customers then you would have to dial 121 before dialling this other TalkTalk customers number which would then override the dialler (and therefore not route the call via Call18866) and the call would then be routed via TalkTalk and be free.

    Does this make sense?

If you are talking about overriding the orchid dialler so that calls will be routed via the standard carrier (in this case NTL) then it is by default 121.

It's generally the weekend due to sheer volume of calls does Call18866/1899 suffer. Are you signed-up to NTL's tariff that does free weekend calls to local numbers? If so, then set the dialler up to route geographical calls via NTL (aka 'Carrier 0 - Not Routed') at the weekends.

I thought that the free weekend calls still had a 5p connection charge?

If you check here their 3-2-1 Standard Tariff reads as follows:-

FREE unlimited local weekend calls - all weekend, every weekend.

The small print at the bottom of that page reads:-

Calls outside the "unlimited call" element of these packages are subject to a call connection charge of 5p

That to me reads that you wouldn't get charged at all for LOCAL calls at a weekend. This is good if most of your calls are likely to only be local.

If on the otherhand, you make a lot of calls that are outside your local area then you may be best with their 5p talk plan (click here to view it) but it charges 5p for upto an hour of a evening and weekend so for this I'd recommend using the 121 override for any calls you have problem dialling at the weekend when Call1899 becomes extremely busy.
