Free calls yes, but 5p connection as far as i aware, so 1899 still cheaper!

Anyone got that list that tells me the tariff of ntl, i know i saw it here the other day, but for the life of me i can't find it! NTL site is rubish for this information!

    cheers

Had a leaflet from NTL through the door this morning, it's in the bin now and beyond recovery, but I seem to remember it said they have a 5p connection charge, too (this is on their current "free calls for a year" offer - they do have other plans, too)

Careful with that 'free calls ' bit!
3-2-1 Standard - £10.50 per month FREE unlimited local weekend calls - all weekend, every weekend.

Line rental is included for TV customers.

Why pay more for your phone?

    • 3-2-1 Standard phone rental is only £10.50
    • Free evening and weekend TalkTime to other local ntl Telephone customers
    • UK landline call rates are just 3p a minute weekdays, 2p a minute evenings and 1p a minute at the weekends
They're crafty though - note the use of the word 'local' above.
Subject to that 'local' aspect, the 5p minimum call charge does not appear to apply.
Calls outside the "unlimited call" element of these packages are subject to a call connection charge of 5p.
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

alot of our calls are local ntl to ntl - family etc

I'll have to ring them and check there is no connection charge! otherwise pointless :) I can't see it not having a connection charge as most of the calls on our bill are ntl - ntl and that is mostly the highest part of our bill!

Anybody help me with a problem with my V4 Dialler & Dialaround?

I am on a BT line with my line routed through Tele2 via CPS,

I have already set up my V4 software with 0870 numbers routed through Dailaround through the following carrier command: 08445667575# - Dialaround 0870

The problem is when I dial an 0870 number I then get a prompt telling me to redial the 0870 number & then press the hash key & then the number dials through dialaround as normal.

If anybody has setup dialaround successfully with a V4 I would appreciated it if you could let me know how!

Steve - I happen to be on exactly the same set up as you with tele2 and dialaround....which works fine btw for 0870 nos...with a V4 dialler. I'll check my settings and let u know tomorrow. I think it's to do with insufficient pauses in your setting - I think I had the same problem as you before.

    OK looked it up.......

I use Dialaround during the day and bt (via 1280 override) during the evenings and w/end.

The setting you need to find on the "carrier" dropdown list is:

"08445667575#### - Dialaround" [You need to hunt around until you find the one with 4 hash symbols]

This works for me.....hope this helps!

BTW..slightly off topic but you can also set V4 for free directory enquiries.
Under "routing" find "118 - *New*Directory Enq"...then as soon as 118 is dialled it will be routed to (which you will need to set up):

Under the "carrier" drop down list find: "08000192190 - Free Dir Enq"

    Hi,

I was thinking of getting the V4 Orchid Dialler, I am on a NTL line and going to drop the package down to the basic 3-2-1 package. I see when using the various services NTL customers have to type in a long number unlike BT customers where it is only a few digits long.

With the Orchid dialler am I right in thinking that I can just type in the phone number I want and the dialler will do the rest for me?

    AIUI, yes.

Better still, Orchid know what cable customers need and will pre-progarm the V4 in accordance with your requirements (they used to charge £2 - which was great value - but I think they do it free now).
