  • this all seems a bit not unnecesary don't you think?

do people really want to discuss how often we bathe?

and if you did only bathe once a month would you admit it?

To all the people on here who don't have a shower, have you thought about getting one of these combined with one of these .

We have both of those together and it works well enough, not great pressure in it but thats as much our water as anything. The curtain gives 360 degrees coverage so no wet floors and in the time it takes to run a bath, 2 people can have a shower.

Plus it uses up LOADS less water in the process so much better for the wallet and then environment!!!

We don't have a shower and our bath takes forever to run so it's a bath twice a week and a good strip wash (all over) every day with a sink of hot water, shower gel and one of those wash scrub thingies here I'm afraid. I don't think I smell though. We keep talking about having a shower installed but at £600 for the shower and installation I think it will have to wait a little while longer.

Similar here, I only shower when we go to the in-laws (and I love it... so much easier) because we don't have one :(

I also alternate between baths and a strip wash.

I'm only 5x £2 coins into the shower installation fund so far unfortunately.

I shower and wash my hair every morning; wakes me up. In the summer I shower again in the evening without a hairwash. I've tried strip-washing but just don't feel clean with it. When we had a bath, DH and I would share the bath with cups of coffee in the morning - lady's privilege not to sit on the plug!
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I had a shower with mixer taps installed, and it's fine - cost about £100 to get it put in and the same to buy from Argos I think, if i recall correctly. Better than the ones you shove on the taps cos they always ping off in my experience.

I can't find a link to what I mean, but it was the taps and the hose and the head and riser rail all together.

Needed a plumber to put it in for me, but you could probably do it yourself (if weren;t me that is!)

That's the way I started when it was getting too difficult to get in and out of a bath.

A local plumber fitted me a second hand mixer tap to my bath a while back and certainly with my combi boiler it works a treat.

    :)

Sorry if this post takes the thread off-topic but it's related!

Do you use shower gel or just plain old soap?

I think we're being conned again into buying expensive lotions/potions and soap is more than sufficient. Doesn't stop me being snookered into buying lovely smelling bubble-making shower gel now and then (oh, and using it when not at home cos soap could go all soft and messy when in those travelling boxes).

We've come to this conclusion as well and have switched to soap as it goes so much further than shower gel. Specially with the other half - he seems to use a shower gel bottle up in the space of three to four weeks!

We also tend to shower daily, although occasionally in winter on the weekend I might skip a shower. Also in winter I shower at night, rather than first things as the hosue is warmer and it means I get an extra 20 mins lie in when the mornings are dark.

Yep a combi boiler's the way to go - I have a really powerful shower now it is on the mains pressure. And way cheaper than a leccy one would have cost me!! :T (accidental moneysaving!)

    Am I weird?

I must be weird also Troo :) I have a bath in the morning and one early evening. The evening one is mainly to chill out and relax.
