we will be staying there for one night in June, and looking for something casual to eat in the evening,- something like a pub meal would be ideal.
Is there a wetherspoons here, does anybody know?
Dont really fancy eating in the travelodge itself in the evening.
From memory Gatwick Airport T/L ( and Manchester Airport T/L as well ) both have little around them and need a taxi ride elsewhere if the on site eating offered is not for you.

For what is's worth the best T/Ls that I use regularly in London are Euston and Southwark (don't even consider the Kings Cross ones), and in suburbia Heathrow Central and Croydon Central.
All are well connected by Public Transport of one sort or another, are in fairly good shape and have some sort of food offerings and a shop nearby to stop you starving.;)0 -
Taunton one was not good. Mould in grout in bathroom. Dirty sheets left on the bed for two nights. Kids mattresses had large stains on them.
Location good near to M5, Sainsbury + Pizza Hut across the road, harvester 2 min drive but not worth another £9.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

went to Travelodge in Stratford upon Avon. Very good and clean. brand new. Free car park and only 15 min walk to the town centre so you can easily leave the car there. Plenty of shops around (near an outlet centre) and place to eat. Recommend it.A friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

Anybody stopped in the Wembley Travelodge on the N circular ? Poor reviews on tripadvisor, wondering if to cancel or not ?
Thanks in advance0 -
I stayed at the Wembley Travelodge in 2008 with my wife and son, as it was near to the Stadium and we had booked a stadium tour. The Travelodge was excellent, large car park, working lifts, a bar and cafe, rooms clean and plenty large enough for a family of 3. Only slight annoyance was a fire alarm around midnight which fortunately was false. A good place to stay if you are driving but not handy for public transport, nearest Tube Station Stonebridge Park is a good 15 minute walk, trains to central London infrequent, there are buses but did'nt try them. It's quite near the Famous "Ace of Clubs" cafe which is worth a visit itself.Cask Ale Fan:beer:0

A second vote for Southwark. The only thing against it is that it doesn't have windows you can open, although in central London do you want to? It also has air conditioning in the rooms.
Southwark gets good prices but it's very close to most things, 10 minutes (max) walk to Waterloo station. And provided your sense of direction in back streets doesn't desert you, about 5 minutes to get to Tate Modern and another 5 to cross the bridge to St. Pauls.
We stayed there to see the Lion King and walked to the theatre and back no problem.
Don't make the mistake of eating in the restaurant directly below the hotel, looks good from the outside but it's pretentious crap.0 -
Anyone stayed at Feltham and taxied to LHR (T3) for a flight?
Costs and timing would be useful to know (11 am flight).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.0 -
The Covent Garden site in London is ideal, but you MUST ask for a family room and therefore stay in the High Holborn building. This building is quite new and very clean. A lot of rooms on high floors with great views. The Drury Lane building is awful. Old, badly ventilated and dirty. I think they are also extending this building at present, so even if this means the building is being revamped it will be noisy from early morning.
A really pleasant surprise this year was Wakefield. Good, clean new building. Parking a bit limited on site. Was in Wakefield for a week at the theatre and found the town to be very nice. (Huge student night on Monday. Not my scene, but fun if you want cheap drinks and loud music.) Friendly place, with good access to some great countryside. Try the sculpture park, mining museum, northern part of Peak District, easy train journey in to Leeds for shopping and theatre. Wakefield also has a decent little theatre.
Has anyone stayed at Manchester Central? I'm in Manchester for work later in year and wondered what people's experience has been.0
