We stayed at Gatwick in the summer it was v busy. Lots of folk going on hols. It is basic -I don't like it because it is offsite so no good to eat etc and you then have to get a bus/taxi to the airport. The car park in the height of summer was not full as people arrived by bus/taxi mostly.0

Hi everyone just thought i would add my two pennyworth my wife and i have booked three cheap weekend breaks with Travelodge first one was on saturday just gone at the Okehampton Whiddon Down travelodge, i was a bit concerned from what i had read on here, but was pleasanately surprised, location was nice away from main A30, staff friendly and polite, room clean and tidy would recomend this travelodge ideal for Exeter 20mins and Plymouth 1hr and well worth the price, my wife and i would definately return to this hotel. We are looking forward to are two other trips to Barnstable and Cardiff fingers crossed.0

I've not read through all the pages so I'm sorry if I'm repeating anything.....we had a great mini break in Brighton. We stayed at the Brighton seafront Travelodge, got a family room for 60 quid, so equated to 20 quid each. Parking was at the NCP just behind and was pretty reasonable. Nice comfy room, 2 mins walk from the seafront one way, and the shopping centre the other. A nice big bar with a big telly, and the bar chap was happy enough for us to watch the footy on it!! All very friendly, and a thoroughly nice time was had by all!0

We stayed in Southwark after a late night at the 02. It is a fairly new looking TL. 2 mins walk from Southwark tube (cross at lights, just past glass building side). It has a small store beside it and a pub opposite. The rooms are controlled by an air conditioning unit on the wall and it was very clean. We had a bath and shower in the family room, but hubby stayed on his own another time and just got a double room with a shower (although family room booked, but 2 of us fell ill and did not go). He was not bothered, but if you like a bath it might be best to insist on a family room if booked. They seem to allocate rooms on arrival, as they ticked it off a list of rooms available. Very secure hotel as you need a card key to get in aft 10pm and to access floors at all times. It is about 10 mins walk to waterloo for the tourist things such as Southwark Cathedral, London Eye, County Hall, Imperial War Museum. Also there is a Sainsburys Metro if you fancy a sandwich meal deal picnic for lunch. The only slight problem I saw was that the cafe area is very small for the amount of people using it for breakfast at peak time i.e. 8.30am onwards, so I would go down earlier if you do not want to have to wait for a table. if you put the Tl postcode in googlemaps you will be able to zoom in and do a virtual walk around the area.
I have recently come back from my stay at the Southwark lodge & I have to totally agree with Susan, very pleased & would use again. This was my first experience of a travelodge, I will be happy if the others that I have booked are just as nice. Everything from the rooms to the happy & helpful staff made it a very pleasant stay.Comping from May 2012
Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help0 -
Heston M4 East - dirty, smelly, missing mattress for the sofa bed, no extra pillows available when we asked, heating on full and unable to turn it down, and old fashioned keys in use - my OCD kicked in thinking anybody could copy a key and use it, especially when my 16 year old daughter was in a room on her own. I wouldnt return here.
Travelodge Torrelaguna, Madrid - Fantastic, high standard of everything, helpful, friendly staff, brilliant public transport routes, great location - cant wait to go back!I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

Hi Ellidee, I think this Travelodge is near Kendal but on their website, it is classed as in Carnforth. (Right on the M6 going Northbound). It is actually called Burton. I can see that there is another one in Kendal too.0

Haven't stayed there but it is fairly new. It's near The Galleria outlet centre, although it isn't a large place, there are a few restaurants there together with a cinema complex.0 -
Eastbourne Travelodge, right on the seafront, onsite Bar and Restuarant.Pay and display parking on seafront which you get really cheap.Ludlow Wooferton is also very nice, set well off the main road, rooms at the back have a nice view and staff very welcoming.
i also stayed here and it was such a treat to have the sea right outside the window, the kids loved it i also got 2 rooms for £9 each, near to marwell zoo for a day out!nice shops but didnt think much of the tourist info very rude...i stood there clearly waiting to talk to somone and they just carried on with their conversation!!!:mad::mad:

We've just returned from a weekend in Oxford. We stayed at Oxford Wheatley the first night, which was nice and clean and comfy. It's opposite an Asda and next to a Harvester so we checked in, popped to Asda for magazines and snackage and had a very nice afternoon before going to the Harvester for tea! Grand! The next night we stayed at Oxford Peartree which is right next to the large park and ride car park so is perfect for going into the city. Both really nice and would recommend, we're already looking for cheap nights so we can go back and take The Child!0
