We stayed at the York Central TL last night. Clean and not too noisy (given that it was a Saturday night). Helpful staff. Next door to a Wetherspoon's; handy for breakfast this morning.
The TL is in a very convenient location, right beside the town walls and just a short walk in to the city. Really handy yesterday when making our way back to the hotel during a mini blizzard! We would stay at this TL again.

Bristol Central - stayed at this TL July 2009. We would NOT recommend this TL. Smelly, unkempt, noisy, dirty, VERY unhelpful staff (who were not in the least interested in our comments).
  • Has anyone stayed in Hatfield by any chance? I booked a room for March, I've never seen it or been there but it was a bargain so I thought I'd take a risk!

Beth Central is in a great location. Once you've parked up you can enjoy a mini break without lots of driving around.

London Marylebone is quiet ( as is the station ) ideally placed ( 100 yds from station, a quiet 10 min walk to Regent's Park, a 10 min bustle walk to Tussaud's ) and being on the Bakerloo Line it has direct stops to Westminster ( London Eye ) Charring Cross ( Trafalgar Sq ) Embankment ( Tate Modern ) Piccadilly Circus and Wembley

I know that all the central London travelodges are cheap when you consider the location, but do any of them come up at £9 per room in the sale? Also, could anyone give any opinions as to whether there are any to be avoided as I will be travelling with my 9 year old? We have only stayed in the Tower Bridge one (which was very new and very nice). Thanks

    What a great thread!
I will be staying at the London Southwark (my first TL stay) next month which I hope is close to the London Eye etc. But I am also hoping to book rooms to go to the following attractions.....Legoland, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventure, Alton Towers. Can anyone recommend particular lodges with free parking. Thanks
    Comping from May 2012 :D

Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help :)

We booked Uttoxeter TL at £9 a night for alton towers and I thought the place was awful. Wouldn't stay there again even if it was only £9. We are going to alton towers later in the year and will try and get the premier inn for £29 as well worth the extra in my opinion - the TL was awful, dirty, smelly and stains on the bedsheets and matresses - one of which so old and filthy it actually had holes in it  I wouldn't let my daughter sleep on it she slept on the floor, which although not ideal was a million times cleaner the the 'bed'!!! Parking I think was between £3-5 for 24 hours.

We also booked 2 nights, £9 each at the sunbury M3 TL to visit chessington and legoland as its in the middle of both parks. Its about 20 mins from chesington but we never made it to legoland but i think its about 30 mins away. This one was fine and I would stay there again. Parking if I remember correctly was £3 at this one for 24 hours. I have also read on here there is a good one in windsor itself, possible windsor central but not 100% sure.

I'm not totally against TL but it really seems hit and miss and after staying in the Uttoxeter one I personally would always try and get a £29 premier inn room first. I read on here someone said book the new ones avoid the older ones and that seems to be the case for us.

After our stay at Liverpool st we stayed at the premier inn tower hill, prescott st, it was like a palace compared to the travelodge. Staff were friendlier, no funny smells and working lifts and air conditioning.
