Try looking under ukhotdeals under hilton hotels. Just managed to book a room for £36 for two nights in Bracknell- that's more of a bargain! Also booked Easter for £31 a night a Swindow. Both of these include buffet breakfast.

Thanks for your replies, everyone has been very helpful. I did look at the Hilton offer but couldn't find anything under £40 unfortunately but that was when I was looking at London so will have a browse again. I will also have a look at premier inn.
Has anyone stayed at the hotels that I have already booked, London Southwark and Perry Barr in Birmingham. I am hoping that both are new & clean :-)
I live in Chelmsford and although I haven't been in it, the travelodge here is quite new & I know people that stayed in it before Christmas and they were happy with it. I thought I would mention it just in case anyone comes here for business :-)
    Comping from May 2012 :D

Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help :)

We stayed in Southwark after a late night at the 02. It is a fairly new looking TL. 2 mins walk from Southwark tube (cross at lights, just past glass building side). It has a small store beside it and a pub opposite. The rooms are controlled by an air conditioning unit on the wall and it was very clean. We had a bath and shower in the family room, but hubby stayed on his own another time and just got a double room with a shower (although family room booked, but 2 of us fell ill and did not go). He was not bothered, but if you like a bath it might be best to insist on a family room if booked. They seem to allocate rooms on arrival, as they ticked it off a list of rooms available. Very secure hotel as you need a card key to get in aft 10pm and to access floors at all times. It is about 10 mins walk to waterloo for the tourist things such as Southwark Cathedral, London Eye, County Hall, Imperial War Museum. Also there is a Sainsburys Metro if you fancy a sandwich meal deal picnic for lunch. The only slight problem I saw was that the cafe area is very small for the amount of people using it for breakfast at peak time i.e. 8.30am onwards, so I would go down earlier if you do not want to have to wait for a table. if you put the Tl postcode in googlemaps you will be able to zoom in and do a virtual walk around the area.

Thanks for the very useful information. We have booked a family room as there are two adults and two children in our party.

I've stayed there, it's alright with quiet rooms and (mostly) nice staff although there were a few things that I didn't like (kettle was black inside and the loo was blocked). However, I'd be happy to pay a bit more to stay with Premier Inn instead as unlike Travelodge they actually care about customer service and don't force customers to phone 10p per minute numbers.

By the way, if like me you receive a 'penalty charge notice' from the crooks in the car park just ignore it as with any private parking company.

We went to one in Sutton area a few weeks ago and I will never set foot in a Travel Lodge again.

It's not like we're used to top notch hotels or anything, as we'll normally just do a PremierInn which is clean and comfortable - and they have that superb money back guarantee which I've only ever had to use once (and which was completely hassle free).

When we got there we were greeted by the £5 a night parking. This had been shown on the website so not exactly a surprise, but after parking a way away (as the car park was empty and all roads around were full!) and walking through the snow and ice (weekend before Christmas) with the kids, we arrived to be asked for our parking ticket as parking is covered by them!!! This is not mentioned on the website or in the car park (as evidenced by the parking in the roads around rather than in the car park), so it immediately seemed like they were omitting this information on purpose to save a few quid. Very poor first impression.

Next was the unbelievably gloomy woman on reception who had such a poor grasp of English that understanding her was a chore. She rattled through booking in without raising a smile once, then proceeded to hand us a slip of paper telling us to make sure we rate them 9 or 10 on their website:eek: This by the way was not even on a pre-cut bit of paper, but looked like my kids had had a pop at doing it - again giving a really shoddy impression.

I was hungry and wanted a bit of food, but on walking through the place and seeing how grubby it looked in general I had second thoughts and bought some extremely overpriced chocolate from the vending machine.

We'd booked a family room, and on entering found that not only were the kids beds not made, but that it was simply a sofa with a horrible wire bed underneath it. The kettle was grubby, the mugs were grubby (not dirty, just old) and did not match, the loo was stained, the bathroom smelt of pee and the cups in the bathroom were cheap plastic. Our bed was lumpy and had the flattest pillows imaginable - I ended up getting the back of the sofa that my poor son had ended up on and using it as a bolster. Apparently the shower was a nice powerful one though. Woohoo.

Unfortunately we'd taken the breakfast option when we booked so felt we had to go through with it, but that was dire too. Again, first impressions were made when there didn't seem to be a single matching chair or piece of cutlery. I know it makes no difference to the place itself, but it really shouts 'cheap' when they just make do and mend when things break!

The juices were like water - really nasty, god knows how they managed to make them taste like they did! The tea and coffee had to be made yourself rather than being bought to the table (PremierInn have the same buffet set up but at least bring you a decent cuppa), and there was no boiling water for tea, just the hot water for coffee. There was a single two-slice toaster for the whole restaurant so a great queue had formed. The hot stuff was all exceptionally cheap and overcooked.

We paid £60 odd quid for staying there, and I can honestly say it was £60 odd quid too much!

Heathrow Hounslow - fab could not fault at all and great for T3 at the airport. The cab company they recommend is also cheaper than the hoppa!

Manchester M62 great for shopping if you cant get into the Trafford Travelodge
