London Southwark was a really lovely Travelodge. Modern, new and very clean. Only opened about 18 mth ago we were told. Excellent security within the hotel needing cardkey access to hotel corridors etc. Felt very safe there with our child. Air Con in our family room and excellent sound-proof windows (we had the railway line outside our window and hardly heard it). Had a bath and lovely power shower. Staff were really friendly, polite and helpful. Restaurant & bar on 1st floor could provide very reasonably priced evening meals up to 10pm or a £7.50 eat-all-you-like buffet breakfast (kids were free at breakfast too), which really set you up for the day (no need for lunch !!). We'd go to the bar in the evening and take a drink up to our room (which was welcomed when having to stay in the room of an evening with a child). Hotel was perfectly located. Just a 10 min walk from Waterloo Station and tube connections. Also loved the 12pm check-out time on a Saturday. Very civilised !! Would highly recommend this hotel.:T0

Managed to get some £12 rooms (and one £29 room for Alton Towers) .... very happy... Need some sleep now...
Thanks for all the reccomendations, I have booked London Covent Garden and London Soutwark so I will report back in the New Year.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
Thank you very much for for this, I have just booked Covent Garden, for £19 each room though I am desperately searching for a £12 room just bacause I want one lol... To be honest for a family of 6 getting a hotel in London for £19 (£38 for the 2 rooms we need) is an absolute bargain.0

hi
Have never stayed in travelodge before and am doing a xmas cruise out of Dover and need a room for the night....can anyone recommend a particular one to stay in near the port please...or maybe which ones to avoid?
Also is there anyway of getting them cheaper as you all seem to be getting good bargain prices
Thanks so much

transport links are great in london, so no matter where you stay, its quite an easy journey to get anywhere
so your best option, is to choose a TL that is easy for you to get to from your home. if coming by car, its usually best to stay in the burbs (rather than uptown) as that way you can park the car, and get on the train/tube - much easier/cheaper than driving/parking in central london
which side of london, will you be coming in from?

i think ashord or canterbury are nearest, but get booked up fairly quickly, due to ports/eurostar - i prefer to stay at margate, as its a newer lodge, and tends to have more rooms at the cheap rate
i find staying a bit further out works best, but as you are going on a cruise, are you getting to dover by car? as none in that area, are really suitable for people using public transport

I tried to find a £12/£19 room at Covent Garden, London/Worthing/Brighton Travelodge this morning at 12.30am, 4.00am, 5.30am and again at 6.00am but to no avail. I assumed that perhaps they just didn't have any and have now seen on this forum that others have booked for Covent Garden. During the early hours of this morning I was able to find daily rates on a weekly basis but I now can't find how to do this. Could anyone please direct a semi-computer literate person as to how I go about actually locating where the £12/£19 are? Thank you to anyone who has the time to reply.0

Thanks Flea- we'd be going in from the S.E. corner- M20ish.
I guess it's a matter of weighing up things like parking at the TL- as we'd want to leave the car & take public transport in for the day.Only dead fish go with the flow...0
