Newcastle Central Travelodge
Right beside the very trendy Quayside so excellently situated. Rooms are bog standard Travelodge. You have to pay extra for the car park, about £5 a day if I remember rightly. The bar is a bit expensive mind you, not that you'll use it with the mind boggling amount of pubs and wine bars on the Quayside.0 -
Brighton Travelodge: Very close to seafront and shops, lovely place. Next to a car park but all parking very pricey in Brighton and on road parking is permits only.
Southwark Travelodge, London: Brand new and handy for underground. Little shop right next door to hotel. Website advises some train nose as right next to two lines but we slept right through thanks to double glazing.
Kendal & Cockermouth Travelodges (Lake District): Both new and free parking on roads nearby with both.
Thurrock Travelodge: On the M25 service station, right by Lakeside shopping centre. No traffic noise and a view of a hillside and lake from our room (could be miles out in the country!). Free parking on the motorway services carpark for Travelodge customers.
Nip over to IKEA at Lakeside before 11am for their 99p cooked breakfast!
Handy enough for Southend if the cheap rooms at the Travelodge there are gone.0 -
Southwark Travelodge in London is a good one as Redcat says. It's one of the new ones so stylish red bathroom and flat screen tv are included. It's about 2 mins walk from the Southwark tube station too so perfectly situated for sight-seeing but not too noisy at night.Comping since Sept 08 - Clothes Show Tickets|Tigi Goody Bag|Cosmo Wins|U2 Goody Bag and Ipod Nano|Top Gear Goody Bag|Galaxy Book - Marian Keyes|Bourjois eyeshadow|Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish|£35 Next Giftcard|£100 Debenhams Giftcard|Kasabian Tickets (thanks to the very kind Shjo558)|2x Ipod Shuffle|Sony mp3 Player|20,000 Nectar Points|0

Yes thats a nice one, stayed in it enroute to Legoland last October. Nice building from the outside too. We stayed in both going and coming from Legoland and the only negative I could say about was the room in our return journey, I think it was room 1 and it was right next to reception so we heard everyone coming in and going out etc.
It is also next to a lovely pub I can't remember the name though but at the time they were doing meals at buy one get one free so very good value for money. With in walking distance to pub or even a stone's throw distance.
Would recommend it, we didn't go into Redditch so I can't say how convenient it was to Redditch.
Thanks for this. Have booked it!0 -
I don`t know if this has been mentioned before. I was in Scarborough yesterday and went past the new Travelodge. It opens on the 21st May. For anyone who knows and loves Scarborough it is the old St Nicholas hotel up on the cliff. The St Nics used to be a beautiful hotel with wonderful views. The exterior of the building has been preserved and is looking great. I will definitely be giving it a try.0

Been reading through all of these posts and while useful what I was hoping to get from this thread was some recomendations not just for T/Lodge themselves but for good areas to stay in..
I have 3 daughters aged 5, 4 and 20mths and I would really appreciate any recomendations for good areas/places with T/Lodges near by that I can take them for mini holidays.
We don't have much money (like most people on this site!!) we can't afford to have 'proper' holidays at the moment so a couple of days away in cheap T/Lodges are perfect for us!
Last year at the begining of the summer hols we stayed in Birmingham Central Plazza. This was our very first time in a T/Lodge and we LOVED IT!!!
It was clean, tidy and quiet. We enjoyed beakfast with their deal which was great and there is a subway and an all you can eat chinese just down stairs.
Tesco express was across the road and there was also a bowling ally there (although we didn't use this!)
Parking was quite expensive in the underground mall carpark but needs must and all that...
We chose B'ham because we wanted to visit the West Midlands Safari Park (which is EXCELLENT!!!!) highly recommended we also wanted to go to the Cadbury's chocolate factory which again was brill expecially for the kids!
We got 2 night 22nd and 23rd of July 2008 for £19 each - brilliant!
This year I have booked the T/Lodge in Melton Mowbury, to visit the Twin Lakes theme park which looks great for the little ones again have got 2nights for £19 each there, and we're really looking forward to it!
So any more recommendations for great areas and things to do with little ones would be great!
(we live in Norwich, so don't need any for the norfolk area!):D0 -

Charmed1; your probably better of looking at the T/L website and deciding from the hotel list and then the hotel information for those that are within the distance your prepared to travel - then ask the question of specific hotels on here.
Once armed with a list of suitable T/Ls all you have to do is keep an eye out for sale/deal times, and off you go.
Happy hunting!0 -

sometimes even places that you would normally class as daytrips are worth adding an overnight stay into, just because it means you can spend the whole day doing things, and not have to worry about a late drive home, or being tired the next day
theres something to do everywhere in the country, so we just tend to find the cheap room first, and then plan our days out around that. Or if we really want to visit an area, then we wait til sale time, and get up very early to get in first. hence the fact i got up at 4am to book 2 wks at a travelodge in torquay for this summer - total cost just under £140
