one of the worst ive stayed in was in bristol. old dirty rooms. we changed rooms 3 times because every room had windows which didn't have the safety device working on them. We wanted to have the windows open a bit to let air in as it was really really hot, but the thing that only allowed them to be opened a bit was broken in every room. We had a climbing 18 month old with us. ending up just putting up with the heat.

Horses for courses mate. I would be over the moon to have a room where the window opened more than 2 inches! But then I am just an old fogey and don't have little 'uns to worry about.

I can recommend the Kew Bridge Travelodge, stayed there twice, 2nd time took the car and parked in their basement car-park £5 for 24 hours. No hassle, more like an hotel than some.
Funny, because that's the only Travelodge that I've stayed at that I could find fault with. Nothing major, it was just a bit shabby and run down. Showing it's age really.

It can't be that old, all the rooms have swipe-card locks and the older T/L's have keys, but as has been pointed out it's horses for courses.

Manchester central: Great location and relatively cheap parking (£5 per day couple of years ago)

Leamington Spa: Lovely old hotel very close to shops, bars and restaurants.

Ashford: On small retail park and ideal for channel tunnel

Agree about Leamington Spa - though a bit "faded glory" but the rooms were clean and the staff helpful. If you stay at the weekends, take your earplugs ! Oh yes - and there's also a nearby Indian restaurant that serves the worst Indian food I've ever tasted - if I only I could remember its name ....

yes marylebone is conveniently located, and set back from main Euston Road, but it is in a very sorry state. Unless it has been refurbished in the past 12 months I would recommend staying somewhere else.

If you want to visit London, then the Covent Garden lodge - just off Oxford Street - is ideal. You can pop back to your room for a cuppa during the day. The Euston lodge is new and also recommended. Considering it`s location, it is very quiet. The 3 near Kings Cross are easy to get to, but only go there if the others have no cheap rooms. I will be trying the Marylebone one next month. They don`t appear to have any family rooms there, but it does seem to be well located.
  • On 30th Dec last year at 6am when Travelodge did a promotion for £9 I managed to get 5 consecutive rooms at £9 each in Worcester, Burford and Stratford for a walking holiday. £45 for 5 nights!

The new Travel Lodge in Chester couldn't be more central. Very handy for shops and for history, it's just opposite the ampitheatre and near the Walls.

Yes thats a nice one, stayed in it enroute to Legoland last October. Nice building from the outside too. We stayed in both going and coming from Legoland and the only negative I could say about was the room in our return journey, I think it was room 1 and it was right next to reception so we heard everyone coming in and going out etc.

It is also next to a lovely pub I can't remember the name though but at the time they were doing meals at buy one get one free so very good value for money. With in walking distance to pub or even a stone's throw distance.

Would recommend it, we didn't go into Redditch so I can't say how convenient it was to Redditch.
