Great 'Best Travelodge Holidays' Hunt: Which travelodge's offer the perfect get away?

Edinburgh Haymarket is a gorgeous building, a chandelier in the hallway, good clean modern rooms, and a short bus or train ride from the centre/attractions. Stayed there 2 nights just before christmas for a grand total of £18, was cold but fantastic!!:money:0

Just back from a trip with 4 nights @ £9
First stop - Bicester (Lark Rise to Candleford country for all those watching!) Excellent - service area has a M& S Simply Food, coffee shops, Thorntons (irresisitable!). For shoppers it's very close to the Bicester Shopping Mall - believe it's brilliant but didn't go.
Two nights at Ringwood - St Leonards' - on busy A31 but I didn't hear much. Room was small but everything was clean - and it's a great location for the New Forest and for the Dorset coast.
One night at Rugby - just a stopover really on the way home.
Have used Travelodge - Manchester Central was so handy for the MEN Arena - it was perfectly adequate and I was back from my concert in 5 mins. Used Covent Garden a few times (old one) and would agree about the soft bed! But the bar and food is so handy when you stagger in from the theatre.
Worst one was Walsall - it calls itself Birmingham Walsall but for all of you who don't know the Midlands it's nowhere near Birmingham! Carpet was filthy but I was given a new room without any problem - they were in the middle of refurbishing to be fair and I got a room with a new carpet, You just have to question why I wasn't given the room with the new carpet in the first place!
Thanks to everyone on this thread - I've written down all the recommended (and not!) hotels for future travels. I think Travelodge value is brilliant - long may they continue to make travel and entertainment affordable (let's face it, at the moment nothing much else is  !0 -
Manchester central: Great location and relatively cheap parking (£5 per day couple of years ago)
Leamington Spa: Lovely old hotel very close to shops, bars and restaurants.
Ashford: On small retail park and ideal for channel tunnel0 -
We stayed for 3 days at St Clears near Carmarthen. Very clean and quiet. Super Little Chef on site with good cooks. Good place to tour from. Had to go twice round the roundabout on the first visit.0

Hayle in Cornwall: ideally located for exploring western Cornwall. Various retail units and places to eat close by.
Reading Services M4 westbound: not too much motorway noise and M&S Simply Food on site.
Staines: close to M25 and located on a retail park. Waitrose there has a cafe and plenty of other places to eat. Parking free overnight 6-00pm to 7-00am. Thames is within walking distance. Pictures in the rooms have mysteriously disappeared recently. Has a lift.
Heston Services M4 westbound: right at the back of the services, so quiet. This lodge is nearly always available at a low price and is close to Heathrow. Can enter/exit via a back route so no need to use M4. Can use Hounslow West underground station about 5 mins drive away to get to Heathrow (parking free at weekends and tube fare is cheap).
Guildford: Modern with Cafe Bar. Has a lift.0 -

Manchester Central is the only T/L we will never ever use again - two recent visits had us woken at 0100ish, and then kept awake for the next 3-4 hours by banging and shouting from some of the other "guests", and this was Tuesday/Wednesdays not weekends.
The staff (or maybe T/L itself) have a 3 strikes and your out type of policy of warnings, before any action is taken which is just too long. The absence of a phone in the room really does become a nuisance with this type of idiot "guest" about.0 -
And a tip for all T/L users without children - have a look on www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk and see if one of their pubs is nearby to where you are stopping.
Most open from 0900 (including Sunday) for breakfasts which are half the price of T/L BarCafe. A very few open earlier, but the web site has full details. Some also serve alcohol from 0900, but that depends on the local licensing laws.
You can take children in and they will be welcome, however cost wise the T/L family breakfast offer is probably as good a deal.0 -
I needed a room for a wedding up north for just one night six weeks later - although big notices were given for rooms at £19 and £29 there were none available - £51 was the lowest. How long a time do you have to give to get one of the bargain rooms - and how many are there in each hotel?????0

We stayed at the Carlisle Cetnral on Sun-without doubt the worst and most soul-less place on earth!
A converted Telephone exchange done on the cheap, 11' high ceilings with the free echo, grey walls, no bedside tables, just a hole on each side of the bed, utterly stupid flexible 'torches' instead of proper wall lights, no curtains just a large white blind and no clock on the TV, so how do you know what time it is during the night?
When will these people realise that they are entrusting their company to the lunatic minimalist 'designers' who would be dangerous if they had a brain!Filiss0
