brighton (the one not right in the city centre) is fab. we stayed in a family room overlooking a wonderful park and it was massive - lime our own penthouse.
as a brummie i would recommend the travelodge at the mailbox which is right along the canalside - avoid the broad street one at all costs
i would agree with others that the bath travelodge is great for location though the parking arrangements are naff
kew gardens travelodge is not horrible like another poster suggested. they cannot help who books to stay there. its great as you can park in their safe car park, can walk to kew gardens or travel right into london central. the docklands one used to be good a its right buy the DLR and near some great indian takeaways but they have a lot of car break ins and the rooms are small and in the summer its unbearably hot as well as being the noisiest travlodge by a mile. my mum recently stayed in the one in southwark and really rated it as a bargain lodge
hope this helps xxxsave energy - stay in bed x0 -
Stayed at Cardiff M4 travelodge. Was okay, but gave us broken dirty travel cot for the baby - will take my own next time - after complaining boughtthey put a spotless one!! Family room was smaller than I thought - parking free for travelodge customers and you have to give your reg plate to the receptionist. There was no lift, which was awful trying to get luggage up and down, with a 1 and 5 year old!
Preston Travelodge - awful parking - really really tight, food was dier - people waited ages just to get a full breakfast. After complaining got a refund. The room was really spacious however bigger than the family room at Cardiff. This one had a lift so had easy access. Better than Cardiff M40 -
Cheap as chips and perfectly adequate..Travelodge in general..wouldn't dream of eating breakfast their as you go to these places for the value, you don't get any value with the food.
My vote goes to BURY!..nothing special about the rooms but the location is so convenient! It's in a busy part of the country where 1000's of people have to pass through to get to loads of other places...Manchester, Lancashire in general etc (Perfect stop off for dozens of football/sports venues too). This particular one is situated on a leisure park with a  Cinema, Bowling Alley, McDonalds, Carvery type place, Frankie and Bennies, a Mexican, and a 24 hour Asda :T (might have missed other stuff out here?) All on the doorstep just park up (Free) and enjoy. Food and entertainment enough for a night or 2 for anyone...then on your way to all the places nearby worth seeing. Often use it as a 1 night stop on the way up North! Give it a try0 -
If you want to visit London, then the Covent Garden lodge - just off Oxford Street - is ideal. You can pop back to your room for a cuppa during the day. The Euston lodge is new and also recommended. Considering it`s location, it is very quiet. The 3 near Kings Cross are easy to get to, but only go there if the others have no cheap rooms. I will be trying the Marylebone one next month. They don`t appear to have any family rooms there, but it does seem to be well located.
I second the Covent Garden one, been twice now for 3 nights at £9 per night!!
Fabulous value, room basic, bed a bit soft, but room was clean. We found a cafe round the corner doing 2 breakfasts for £8.00, which is cheaper than the hotel, if you have no kids with you that have free breakfast. It was freshly cooked and good quality.
Great location to nip back for a drink or rest or to change to go to the theatre.:j0 -
We've stayed at a few travelodges, the one at Droitwich, although needing a bif of modernising is small and friendly.
Heathrow T5 is ideally located for the airport and my kids were fascinated by the planes over head all the time! It was a perfect base for visiting local attractions - Chessington, Legoland and Windsor. The hotel itself was clean and fresh.
We're off to Sunbury on Thames this summer - can't really moan about any of them for £9 a room its such a bargain!
make sure you take a fan (or screwdriver for the window safety catch) with you for the sunbury one - its the hottest room weve ever stayed in - oh and we couldnt find anywhere local to eat other than KFC (even staff said there are no restaurants locally), ended up heading over to Feltham for evening meals (about 10mn drive)

Wow - can't believe York hasn't been mentioned yet. We had a wonderful time travelling up by train last year one half-term, visiting the National Rail Museum (free) (twice! also I lost my camera, someone incredibly kind handed it in and the staff were absolutely lovely). We only stayed the one night but wish we'd done more. SO much to do & all within easy walking distance. You could use your Tesco Deals Vouchers to visit Yorvik. We bought a pass to visit various museums which was really good value, also with very interesting childrens' audio-guides - usually museums are 'difficult' for us but these were GREAT. Found a super Chinese, took brekkie & lunches with us (Quorn is like meat but keeps better for 2nd day!). Room extraordinarily comfy & very clean. Going mid-week it was very quiet - we all slept wonderfully! Offer on cooked breakfasts, so we had lunch at 11.55 - brilliant!! Hubby hobbled round in much pain on a broken purple foot & still remembers the trip very fondly!!0

Have also stayed at Cirencester, again excellent and close enough to the town centre to keep a taxi affordable.
Once stayed in Nottingham, again clean and comfortable and close to the sights. Its not somewhere we would normally stay, can drive home in under 30 minutes, but was having a night out  and it was cheaper to stay than a taxi home.0 -
saintstreaky wrote: »Birmingham Broadway Plaza - a fair walk (20 mins?) from the station/centre, but maybe a better bet than the Central one. Reasonably convenient for ICC/Symphony Hall etc, and situated in a leisure complex with restaurants etc. Well away from traffic, the main problem was having a room over a bowling alley but I didn't notice this after about 11 pm.
I agree with this, I've stayed at the Broadway Plaza twice and although it is situated in a busy complex, I didn't hear any noise on both occasions. It cost about £5-6 for a taxi into the town centre and we saved money by buying breakfast in the Tesco across the road!
Has anyone stayed in the Manchester Central one?0 -
Hi,
First timer so forgive errors.
Only Hotel I could get in Feb half tern was Norwich. New and clean. A Fab day at Great Yarmouth for my 3 boys and I, we all shared a family room. Breakfast at Sainsburys, just over the road.
Only problem is parking !!!!.
I managed to park up the road and had to collect the car by 10am.
Then to Cromer, a bit of a journey but for three boys, and me, the Lifeboat Station (God Bless them all) and the life boat Museum (thanks Fred for the tour) were First Class and free - donations welcome - A really Good Family fun and educational day out.
Highly recommended.0 -
