Does anyone know if there are problems with getting sky if you are in a flat with a joint box. I know I can get sky becasue they put something through the door but I don't know how that affects the installation and whether it will be more expensive.0

Hi Guys, Just to let you know that Currys and Comet are selling sky+ hd boxes for £29 but you may have to subscribe to hd which costs £9.75 month.
I had sky installed recently with sky+ hd, phone and broadband, i paid £49 for the sky+ hd box with free installation, free evening calls and free broadband.
Still waiting for the broadband to be activiated, all in all it has taken a month to install and still waiting for broadband!! Sky mucked me about from day one and im not very happy with the service they provided.0 -

I am a sky+ subscriber who wants to get multiroom. Current sky deals drive me down the hd route (£49 /free install) but would have to pay hd sub for minimum 12 months. Not bothered about hd for now but to just get sky+ box = £199 incl install according to salesman in kiosk!!!
If I buy hd box from Comet and just ask for installation only would I still have to pay hd sub? Would they even know I had a hd box?0 -

Yes you would have to subscribe to hd for 12 months to receive the channels through your satellite dish (if you have one).
Might be worth investigating at Currys and Comet for more information, as to whether u need to subscribe or not, but usually you do.0 -
Other thing is the free installation. If I got the HD box from Comet and got Sky round to install the multiroom I would be surprised if they still let me have it for free. That would be £30 at least so it would be cheaper to pay the £49 for the HD box from Sky (assuming they would still want the HD subscription for 12 months).
I'm not sure how they could insist on the HD sub tho. Just because I have bought a box capable of receiving the HD signal does not mean I want to use it for their subscription channels. As I said before, how would they even know I had a HD box in my front room? The engineer would install multiroom upstairs and we would give him our old Sky+ box to use. Ah. Problem could be the viewing card. Would they then charge for this?
Isn't it complicated?
My old fella has just had the £49 Sky HD box installed. He is a returning customer. He says that he has the 4 pack at £19 a month but had to get a premium channell pack for 1 month and then cancel this. He says he is not subscribing to HD pack as was told that it wasn't worth it as they will all be free soon. This by a salesman in a booth in the shopping centre. The same booth (maybe different guy?) that I visisted today about the multiroom and was told that I would have to have the HD for 12 months to get the £49 box offer!!!!!1110 -
I have just ordered free sky+ with free installation but am not taking the broadband or phone package. You cannot use call override numbers with there service which we use frequently and the broad band will be going to £5 a month, if not already. Their is I believe a much better package with Talk Talk where by you get Broadband free for 1 year. It is an 18 month contract but you only pay £10.50 line rental for 12 months and then an extra £6.49 for the broad band for the remaining 6 months. Their is a one off £29.99 connection fee but over the term it works out at £257.93 or £14.32 a month less the line rental and you are paying just £3.82 for broadband. For this you get line rental, free evening & weekend calls and broadband and router, I think this deal is hard to beat. I found this offer by clicking on phone and utilities at the top of Martins page , if you go via your browser it does not give you the 12 month free broadband.0

This really couldn't have come at a better time for me.......We had Sky 4 years ago, when we moved into this house as its in a terrible signal area & it was cheaper to get Sky than to have a new aerial.
I cancelled literally JUST over a year ago & have been using the box since as a freeview box. Yesterday morning the box completely died on me. I changed the fuse but it wasnt that. But it means I cannot watch TV at all. Not so bad for me, but the music channels certainly help to keep my 16month old occupied in the mornings whilst Im doing the chores!!!
I rang a local repair company who said only Sky can repair the boxes or I would have to have a new aerial to beable to run the TV & its built in Freeview. Ive had 4 quotes for a new aerial & they were all roughly the same....It would be (cheapest) £160 (because the area is so bad for signal), plus extra for boosters etc that I would more than likely need.
I cannot afford a big payout as it is! But then I saw this yesterday & figured that if I had the £16.50 package over the year, it would work out about the same, if not cheaper, to have Sky again than to have a new aerial.
But I was a little concerned that it wouldnt apply to me as I am already tied in to TalkTalk with my phone & internet.
So I have just given them a ring, spoke to a lovely gentlemen. I explained about the internet/phone & he said it would be, I could still have the free Sky+ Box & £50 M&S vouchers. I tried to talk down the £30 installation fee but to avail! But never the less, in theory, I am still getting £20 back because of the £50 voucher. I asked if I would definately get the vouchers as I had read that people weren't getting them & he said that it was a computer error & that yes I would definately get the vouchers. We will see, but whatever, its still come up perfect for me.
So thanks MSE!!! :-)0 -
These offers always fall down in this neck of the woods (the Highlands) because we can't get cheap broadband. If I want to take advantage of this, I have to pay £17 for broadband on top of the £16.50 for tv. Hardly a saving...Greeting fur a wee bawbee0
