  • Offer for rest of country but not in Hull, as PaulBear mentions.

We are stuck with KC (Kingston Communications) TOTALLY ILLEGAL and wrong monopoly which Ofcom/Oftel/whatever they are now called will tell you is fine because they allow comms companies in but at extortionate prices.

Hull's a great place to live, shame there is no BT lines for ADSL competition.

Still, offer not that good as Sky were expected to eventually drop the price.
Waiting for the moneyspinning idea to be over that you have to own a different digital recorder for Satillete, Freeview, etc...! Crazy!

Of course Internet TV is the best way... just in Hull we'll get 10th of the service for twice the average cost... maybe if I run a phone cable to the outskirts of Hull...

just tried this deal. Couldn't get it online as it said it didn't recognise my phone number. Phoned up for help, they said that to get the offer I had to get multi room costing approx ten pound extra a month. I told them this wasn't the offer, but she says it is. Otherwise I can get free box and £50 M & S if I get tv, and use bt for my phone therefore paying for sky broadband at £5 total cost £32 ish (inc BT line rental) rather than £26.50 if I got it all from sky.

Not impressed! On hold trying to speak to a supervisor.
    Riding out the receession.........

Seems to be working fine from this link, have ordered this evening and had confirmation it is to be installed Sunday. Can't grumble at that. Great deal, even if the vouchers never materialise (would be nice though, am prepared to chase them...). Thanks for the link.
  • i cancelld my sky and my wife got sky+ free and we payed £30 installation as a new customer. sky told me this wasnt possible as we would have to wait 12 months till the house is classed as a new customer but we did it and it worked fine

I have been wanting to go for a Sky deal for a while now and this one seems very good. Trouble is that you can only get the free Sky broadband if you pay line rental to Sky I think, which means I have to give up my cheap '18185'! Just free weekend calls are not going to do it in a household with three teenagers!

Is there a way around that?

    Hi There

Just to clear a couple things up for you, you do not need to take out line rental to get free broadband, free broadband is for subscribing customers, the line rental is £10 per month which is cheaper than other providers if you want it, you can also get free evening and weekend calls without taking line rental with no charge at all for it, for free 24/7 calls to local and listed international destinations you can pay £5 again not dependant on taking line rental, can have either with or without line rental, a good way for existing customers to get free sky plus is simply introduce a friend, both you and your friend can pick from a free sky plus box each or £50 vouchers, hope this helps
  • I think there should be more offers for people that have got Sky already. Ive basically been paying £38 a month for the past six years and have tried every trick in the book but can get Sky+ without paying £99 for the box then £70 installation on top of that. I got a leaflet through the door saying because im in a digital switch over I could get Sky+ for £49 (plus £70 installation charge) which is still expensive and then when I phoned them they said that this offer was only available to new customers.:cry::cry:

If you introduce a friend to sky both yourself and your friend could have a free sky plus box
  • Here's a good trick I used to get round the new customer issue. Just phone up to cancel when they try and get you to stay, just say your moving out and getting divorced and there's no way your gonna continue paying for her to get sky. This means you don't need to listen to all that sales rubbish. I then said that my soon to be ex wife may want sky but they would need to speak to her about it. I then just handed over the phone and they signed her up with the new customer offer.

It really depends on your 'old' telephone line. (assuming you still have one!?)
This will determine the 'maximum' speed achievable on that line...it could only be 1/2 meg!
And if you can get 'up to 10mb' with your cable provider, and you need this sort of speed, that service is the best you can get.
We have several PCs running all kinds of stuff ALL the time...
So there's no way we could go to 2mb (suggested) - if we paid to have the line put back.

Have you got the package deal discount from your cable supplier???
We get around £25 pcm discount for using all 3 services...give them a call, if you don't!

FWIW - we actually got a call from 'them' today!
They asked why we left, so 'he' told them... and then offered us 6 months half-price (any package) and NO tie-in for that period.
Asked for a new 'box' and they said no...
So we'll keep saving the £22 then.

That's interesting about the old phone line. Wonder how I can find out about what speed it's up to?

Yes I do have the package deal with VM (although I'm not sure my discount is as much as yours, I'll look in it) and also have free calls anytime as a permanent discount which is a deal breaker when it comes to trying to reduce the tv package (which would be another way of saving money - something I really need to do) - if I reduce the tv subscription I lose my free calls so its not worth it.
    Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)

    Hi Guys

I tried to sign up last night but the website keep telling me I was a secondary user on a primary users account ?!?!?
I rang Sky and the man said he couldn't match the offer. I gave him the website address that showed the offer so he could see it and then he was able to find the offer on his system. He said they hadn't been told about it but it was on the system so he signed me up there and then. They are coming Monday to install.

If anyone is having trouble getting the offer just give them the webpage address showing the offer and then they can't deny all knowledge of it!

    Hope that helps someone
