This really couldn't have come at a better time for me.......We had Sky 4 years ago, when we moved into this house as its in a terrible signal area & it was cheaper to get Sky than to have a new aerial.
I cancelled literally JUST over a year ago & have been using the box since as a freeview box. Yesterday morning the box completely died on me. I changed the fuse but it wasnt that. But it means I cannot watch TV at all. Not so bad for me, but the music channels certainly help to keep my 16month old occupied in the mornings whilst Im doing the chores!!!
I rang a local repair company who said only Sky can repair the boxes or I would have to have a new aerial to beable to run the TV & its built in Freeview. Ive had 4 quotes for a new aerial & they were all roughly the same....It would be (cheapest) £160 (because the area is so bad for signal), plus extra for boosters etc that I would more than likely need.
I cannot afford a big payout as it is! But then I saw this yesterday & figured that if I had the £16.50 package over the year, it would work out about the same, if not cheaper, to have Sky again than to have a new aerial.
But I was a little concerned that it wouldnt apply to me as I am already tied in to TalkTalk with my phone & internet.
So I have just given them a ring, spoke to a lovely gentlemen. I explained about the internet/phone & he said it would be, I could still have the free Sky+ Box & £50 M&S vouchers. I tried to talk down the £30 installation fee but to avail! But never the less, in theory, I am still getting £20 back because of the £50 voucher. I asked if I would definately get the vouchers as I had read that people weren't getting them & he said that it was a computer error & that yes I would definately get the vouchers. We will see, but whatever, its still come up perfect for me.

    So thanks MSE!!! :-)

I hope you do get the vouchers, I placed an order on Monday, in came a letter yesterday confirming what I was getting and no vouchers on it. I phoned up to enquire about the vouchers, "No there are no vouchers with this offer" fine I said can I cancel, and I cancelled.

I printed out the online order confirmation which does specify the vouchers on it so fingers crossed I'll be lucky, but I'm expecting a fight lol.

These offers always fall down in this neck of the woods (the Highlands) because we can't get cheap broadband. If I want to take advantage of this, I have to pay £17 for broadband on top of the £16.50 for tv. Hardly a saving...

I didn't take the bb in this package, or the phone, as I am under contract with BT for both and I am in a rural area and the bb would be £17 for me too. The order went through fine and they're booked to install on Monday :)

PurestLight, no it wont work. I've just moved house with an annex so my mum can move in. I've been a Sky customer for years and my mum wanted to move from Virgin so we wanted to 'introduce' her so we can get the vouchers etc; however only one account is allowed per household, regardless of names. Therefore we have had to dish out a LOT of money to get 2 additional multi-room boxes for her. Luckily we had a pot of money left over from the move to account for such thing as this.

I am annoyed though as it has been mentioned above in previous post that Sky continually rips of existing customers, as I said Ive been with Sky for about 15 years now but we get no hint of a deal. Its just like the advert for Nationwide Building Society, reel in the customers with good deals and then ignore them!!!
  • Right then. SKY will NOT accept this offer and when you have provided all your details on line and given all the credit card details and billing info, the very last page then directs you to call them on a number where NO ONE will assist you.

They provide lots of other O844 and 0870 numbers and lots of nonesense options, BUT NOTHING TO SPEEK TO ANYONE WHO TALKS SENSE.

So, DON'T BOTHER WASTING TIME and MORE IMPORTANTLY MONEY ON CALLS WITH THIS COMPANY - SKY ARE DREADFUL WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOMER RELATIONS - NOT A CLUE.

Then again, if anone has been successful, let's hear how you did it please, and the CORRECT phone number to speak to someone.

    Thanks

    James

See the updates dated 17th March - I had a result.

why not just go through quidco?

did it this morning, signing up for sky hd only, got £120 cashback and in theory, £30 in m&s vouchers? being fitted in a weeks time.

    not too shabby.

the legal position is they don't have to honour any of the vouchers.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I dislike SKY Customer Services - not a clue how to handle customers.

Has anyone actually managed to get this offer since yesterday when MSE updated the link.

    Thanks

I couldn't do it with the internet link but rang up and got the deal. MAKE SURE YOU MENTION THIS WEBSITE OR MARTIN LEWIS THOUGH. The helpful sky lady said that they never mentioned it - that people phoning up had to mention it to get the deal - thats the reason why most people are having problems. Only drawback for me was that I couldn't get their free broadband as it wasn't in my area. Sky is coming Sunday week...

I followed martin's link, but notice dear Mr Murdock & co have added a 30 quid set-up charge, so much for 'free'.
  • Hi James,

This is a genuine offer from Sky and we've not had any other reports from people not able to get the offer. Can you PM me your details (postcode and any reference number) and I will see if I can chase it up with Sky.

This websirte should also take this link away if SKY are not honouring the offer here - what's the legal position - anyone know for sure please?

    Thanks

  • Huge thanks if you can. I have sent you a message with all our contact details. Thanks
