just starting to hit here, house cold and condensationy, and when we openthe front door to fee the ferals (who get fed by the door outside) one of them streaked straight in so miserable is it.

Think dh is going to get a taxi to the station rather than have me drive in the rear windscreen less car in wind and rain.

    Good Morning!

We are dreadful skip raiders here and we always make sure we ask the owners :). The dump is another place we end up coming home with more than we take, in fact I am facing a really lovely table that we brought back from there in the summer!

The weather here is really still atm although we have had some really wild weather recently. Today I am planning on organising the growing of some hedge cuttings. We have loads of Morrisons flower buckets and I am going to use them to grow fillers for the current hedge and to start plants for the new hedge.

Going to speak to teh neighbour but I think it would be a good idea to grow the hedge in either side of the fence that is currently there. Fingers crossed they agree as it would give us the privacy we crave and it would be free!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

Our dump don't sell. I also think its less fun now all the stuff is divded up...one of the cool things about the old stinky mix up tips was all the cool stuff you could see. My parents should have known I was a hoarder, I used to love going to the tip and always tried to haul something back into the car.

Forgot to add CTC my DS1 has to pay £20 for board. Very jealous of all the greenhouse talk I haven't got one and in no position to put one up (dogs, footballs, rented property). DS1 has phoned he's done half a day at work and off to follow the hunt. He maybe back later but probably propping the bar up somewhere.

wisteria started, but realised quickly we needed the tower, not a ladder, and the weather is too risky so a weekend job....then got carried away with some wood preservative and gave some doors a once over, and had a start at the apple's winter prune (not much to take off this year as went so crazy last year) and then the pears, just a couple of side shoots sneakily taken off rather than training, totally worng direction growing. Hopeing to get frame in NEXT weekend then start tying the few side shoots there now into position, ready to jump on new ones as they sprout.

I watched Cold Mountain - lovely film.

Snow here - not much but much colder & the winds biting.

rhifield - I used to rescue kids toys & bikes & take them to the charity shop after a clean. But I also thought it disgraceful that folks didn't give them to others. Here, there is little chucked out generally. People do give unwanted stuff away, put notices up - think it stems from being harder to get to shops etc so folks are generally less wasteful.
There was a croft bought & the house had been done up a few years back, but the woman died - really sad & I took some of her wonderful sheep. Someone bought it, gutted it & took everything outside - newish kitchen etc & burnt it. Could see black reek for miles. What a waste & also rather toxic all round. The guy has since bought another house/croft & done the same - that's still not lived in 3 years later. The area/township along the road is very small, yet there are 19 houses that are not lived in all year round if at all. It's incredible.
    Well rant over.
Found eggs under the landing outside the caravan - eggs in January - unheard of - cracked one in a cup & it's fresh! How weird! Must be a young Orp. We won't starve after all.....................

CTC - I think that's great that you're giving your son employment - keep it in the family.

LIR - Jealous of your wisteria - wistful. I grew 4 from seed - tiddly they were after a few years but the other Winter's ice killed them all off - grrr.

Dump & skip dipping - wistful memories too..................

I've read ones from seed are hit and miss for flowering Choille...I guess its a lotery. Ours is going to have to move because its where we are extending, but hoping simply to move it forward. BUT noticed to day itrs squashed the cast iron down pipe quite badly, and is doing its damnest to remove some guttering, so it can't be left much longer without attention.
